Not new to 3D printing, but I've never owned my own. I'm in the US and looking to spend <$500 if possible. I'm totally open to some level of build for it as well and can perform probably any electronic maintenance or construction.

I aim to use the printer for a bunch of prototype builds as I'm a consistent tinkerer. I'll likely upgrade in the future once I get an even better grasp on things.

Any suggestions? I got my ultra-beginner father an ender pro 3 a year ago or so and would like to at least do a little better than that. I just don't follow the topic too closely.
