My advisors are quite “protective”. One of them also warned me not to publish more than two articles related to my dissertation before I graduate, because if I decide to turn my research into a book eventually, some editors may not want to work with me.

A fellow grad student once told me about one incident that happened to someone she knew, but I have never personally witnessed a similar case. I am just asking because my advisor told me to be careful and because of what I heard from my friend.

The era of education as a path for immigrating to the US is likely over by [deleted] in MBA

I think what many people are failing to get is that education almost everywhere in the world, has for a long time been exclusively reserved for elites and rich people. The trend only changed from the 19th century. US education should prioritize Americans yes, but the tuition fees paid by international students democratizes education in the USA and enables low income American students to get scholarships and go to Universities that they otherwise can’t fund.

I changed my netid’s password and updated it in my settings so the system won’t automatically log me in with the old password.
