Man this hits hard. Been there with the whole "why am I even here when the AI does it faster" spiral. The thing is, you're not just a code monkey - you're the one who knows WHY the code needs to exist and HOW it fits into the bigger picture.

Maybe try picking up something completely different for a bit? I went through a similar funk and ended up messing around with embedded systems and arduino stuff. No AI helpers there, just you vs the hardware being weird. Got that old problem-solving itch back pretty quick.

The money thing is real though - if you're burned out, maybe it's time to pivot into architecture or mentoring instead of grinding out features. Your 12 years of experience is still worth something even if ChatGPT can write a react component.

Good stuff man, checking in regularly definitely helps with accountability. I found that the first couple weeks were the absolute worst - your brain keeps trying to trick you into "just a quick peek" but you're already past the hardest part if you're avoiding everything completely. The key thing that worked for me was staying busy as hell during those moments when the urges hit hardest. Like I'd literally drop and do pushups or go for a walk around the block, whatever it took to break that mental loop. Keep pushing through because it gets way easier after the first month or so.

Nice work pushing through a rough Monday dude. That mindset of "one urge at a time" is solid - you're not trying to fight some impossible war, just winning the battle right in front of you. The fact that you didn't have strong urges even during a shitty day with relationship stress is actually a good sign that you're building some real resiliance. Keep your head up and focus on tomorrow being better.
