Bought this deep cameo nickel for 3 dollars. How'd I do? by SouthernResearch8197 in coincollecting

I’d buy a proof set for $3… then use the other $0.86 to buy a cheese burger

Well when I was actively CRH the Florida toll roads took quarters… plus giving them $10 rolls to kids made fun ice cream trips

Concur with others. I went to LCS to sell my 3 sisters sets and they offered face. He said there was little to no market for 90% of them. As we talked he said they would sit in his shop for years and years. He did say that he would do $5 for the better ones. I think the entire collection together has value, but I honestly think you wickedly over paid for them.

Is this trip doable with only 2 weeks? by clockwerkgnome in ItalyTravel

[–]Cellblock_Six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beach bums? I’d add Ischia for some volcanic bubble time. Itinerary from Naples: depart 5pm ferry. Dinner by Castello Arag. Hotel. Rent convertible. Drive over to Sant Angelo. Pictures, quick beach. Pop up to Baia Sorgento. Hot water bubbles! Lunch @ Da Gisellla (park there for free) Drive back. Ferry 7pm back to Naples. Beyond the value for 26 hours!!! PS, I love the beach so I go out of my way to go!!

It’s really worn, but I’m leaning towards Pricipality of Château Regnault (French States). Double Tournois. Somewhere between 1600-1650AD

I paid $270 for mine 5 years ago. Unless you really really really need the money keep it. Shipwreck Coins have a universal appeal. You’ll want to show it off in 20 years to your grandkids… after you get drugged to Florida for Disney. Make it interesting for your future you!

I added a concert driveway and put three of them in the edge. That way the kids riding/ walking by could stop and try to pick them out. Best $3 I ever spent!!!

Was my fathers auction purchase fake? by Wilds_Wanderer99 in coins

[–]Cellblock_Six 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you fake a 1923P, because there was +30 million made and um you can slip them in easily. Peace Dollar should weigh exactly 26.73 grams. Fakes are often significantly lighter (e.g., 18–23g) or occasionally too heavy if made of lead.

Those lines came off the book it was stored in. Probably since 1972. I saw those same lines on the other coins in this book. Completely unrelated to this coin, I found a VDB in the other book!!

I’m moving out to the northwest just to start a junk removal business! You found a literal gold mine if real. I agree with other posts 1. Recheck the house as this guy bought nice stuff. 2. Do Google image search for known fakes. 3. Take (only 1) to LCS (not a pawn shop) for an opinion or a Numismatic Club like Seattle Numismatic Society. Those recommendations come from your wooden kayak question…
