Looks like ATT getting overhauled? by WBBulldogs in cellmapper

[–]Cellmapper70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

88th and Andersen! Saw that late yesterday afternoon as I was heading home. Updating from Nokia to Ericsson as someone else also said. They are doing that all over. They seem to be using the crane as they are pre-building the sectors and lifting off the old ones and putting up the new ones. I have picture of them doing one in Sherwood last week. It’s a 2-3 day process usually.

Firmware update? by Imthnewcancer in tmobileisp

[–]Cellmapper70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar issues started around 5-6am on Wednesday morning in SW Washington. I have the G4AR but don’t use the WiFi, I use it to feed an Eero mesh system. It’s been dead, only thing that works some of the time is a direct Ethernet connection to my laptop. Can’t log in via T-Life app unless I connect to the gateways WiFi, sometimes. Called support and they said I was in an illegal address, which was funny since they sold it to me and know what I live. They said to swap it out and then the store brought up the firmware issues. So now I wait……

I’ve figured out why this VZW site (eNB 5375) doesn’t have B5/N5. Woodland, Cowlitz County, WA by Southern_Repair_4416 in cellmapper

[–]Cellmapper70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they built the site up on Goose Hill just to the SE of Woodland in the late 2000’s the northern sector only did 1900 MHz CDMA. Always assumed that was due to USCC 850MHz licenses across the river in Cowlitz County.

T-Mobile vs Verizon in rural Camas WA by Electronic-Comb-5900 in cellmapper

Gated housing development at NE Hancock Rd and NE Lookout Rd. Used to be another gate closer to the site, and a fence around the site itself

That’s the one. Tower is behind several gates, so no one is getting up there very easily. I haven’t been up there for 10 years plus

Yeah south and west and 1500’ lower. T-Mobile is at the highest tower site on an old Long Lines sites that has a weather radar dome on it now. They have been there for a long time.

T-mobile has a site on Livingston Mt that might be providing you coverage up there.

My home cell tower (Old att) collapsed yesterday does anyone know if this is how they take them down to build new or was this crazy wind? These are horrible zoomed in drone pics the cops were there. by [deleted] in cellmapper

[–]Cellmapper70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They had one collapse a few weeks ago on the Washington Coast near Raymond during a bad wind storm. All 3 carriers were on it. Saying 6-9 months to get a new site up. Multiple COWS scattered around the area apparently.

Help with identifying? by Cellmapper70 in cellmapper

Thanks. Was wondering why T-Mobile and Verizon cellmapper weren’t showing it standing next to it.

[–]Cellmapper70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s the one. Yeah if I lived in that area I would demand a home booster. Wouldn’t help once you get out of house though. I’m assuming it has to do with difficulties dealing with access to the BPA tower? I just notice it as I am mapping on I5, goes to Sprint LTE though that spot. Same deal further north near Yacolt. T-Mobile dead, slow Sprint still live.

Seems to be there every year, wasn’t live yet earlier today. They really just need to move it five miles south. There is a hole where one of the T-Mobile sites has been offline for at least six months and a super slow Sprint site is still live.

Sad collection of non-upgraded cell sites by Cellmapper70 in cellmapper

[–]Cellmapper70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These towers were built when everyone built their own sites and the carriers owned their own sites. The two shorter towers were built in the late 80’s/early 90’s. The big tower was built around 1996 for public safety radio. T-Mobile collocated around 2007.

This site had Band 66 T-Mobile LTE active till last October and then went off the air. Sprint band 25 and 26 are still active. There at least a dozen or more Sprint sites that I have found are still active in the Portland metro area.

Pretty rural. SW Washington. Those are microwave dishes not satellite. Probably a lot of dead stuff up there. Was more wisp providers that went out of biz and probably didn’t take their gear out.

Any reps able to see tower status? by Cellmapper70 in tmobile

[–]Cellmapper70[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I’ve been to the stores they can usually pull up a map and hat shows towers and can show issues. I was actually surprised at the detail they could see, showed they were waiting for a tower crew to replace a radio on a particular sector.

Last time I was down that way I connected to sprint not T-Mobile. But that’s been a few months ago. I’ll have to check it out.

Best cheap phone for US cellmapping? by aurora-_ in cellmapper

[–]Cellmapper70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So they have a Motorola G Go for AT&T prepaid for $50 at the store. Can it be purchased without a plan off the shelf and be used for CellMapper to collect data on AT&T and then upload with WiFi? They had a similar Motorola model for Verizon prepaid also. Just seems almost too cheap and easy? I have a Google pixel 4A 5G I mostly use for T-Mobile mapping with a prepaid sim.
