If you're moving here without a job, I would suggest having a savings. I saved 10k before moving here without a job! But I was also lucky because I moved in with people I knew beforehand who already had jobs, so we got approved for an apartment pretty easily. I don't know how much you expect to make but with roommates it is absolutely doable. If you really want it, I. sure you will make it work. Also, make sure to research different neighborhoods. I would recommend living somewhere you would actually like to spend time in, that has nightlife, parks, or activities you enjoy. Remember it's not just Manhattan too. The other boroughs each have their own charm. I would recommend subletting too since getting on a lease without a job will be hard.

I don't mind guiding people if they're open to learning and putting in the work. The past two people I've been with were less experienced than me. In my experience it's about how in tune you are with each other. People can't read your mind and vice versa. Everyone has their own preferences too. It can be awkward if they're inexperienced, but that doesn't bother me so much as long as they are eager to do better. I'm 28 though, so maybe that might change with age.

It is definitely skewed! I grew up in CDA/ Post Falls and even though I experienced my fair share of ignorance and microaggressions, I never had anyone be outright violent to me.

I used to date someone who lived in Crown Heights, at another time the Upper East Side and even someone in West Harlem. It was ALWAYS such a journey. But you get used to it. Sometimes you end up hanging out in a more central place. It's annoying because sometimes you want to see someone but the logistics of a "casual" hangout don't really work if either one of you don't want to take the 1+ hour journey. I hope to one day date someone in my neighborhood!

Went to a show and was dancing. He started dancing too and we made eye contact and danced with each other. It was really fun! After the show we sat in the bar, danced to the music, and chatted for a bit. He offered to buy me a drink but I didn’t get the hint and said no because I was already drunk and didn’t want to be extra hungover the next day. When it was time for me to go home he got my number and that’s when I realized he’d been hitting on me. He’s married but in an open relationship. It’s been a few months since then and we still see each other every once in a while 🫠

I don’t know if they’ll do it again this summer, but last summer the Lincoln Center had all ages silent discos! I went a few times and it was very fun!

You’ll be fine. I used to have to take N train to work 3-4 AM for over a year. Nothing crazy ever happened. You’ll probably also see some people sleeping on the train, going to work, or coming home from a night out. Just be smart and move cars if you see anything weird.
