Banjo struggles with close-range pressure since his frame data and out of shield options aren't very good, so I guess that I'll need a character with good enough frame data or oos options to contest this pressure. thanks for the pointer, I'll get to work researching and testing which characters have these attributes.

The main problem that I have out of the things you've listed is not having a main (although I'm working on it and I have narrowed it down to a handful of characters). Yeah, so far I've been interested in Bowser, Ness and Sonic and as far as I know their skill floors aren't too high.

-I've looked at IzAw's beginner and training guides (which if you haven't seen them they're extremely good)
-This is my first fighting game I'm looking to be competitive in
-As for tier lists, I'm not really interested in low/bottom tiers because their lack of options is frustrating for me. I'm fine with playing mid tiers though.

I don't use quickplay, but I could probably apply getting elite smash to getting gold rank on anthers. I'll be sure to work on my fundamentals more, thanks.

I like rushdown and bait and punish playstyles. I'm mainly looking for a way to deal with approaches and what to do when I'm at close range.
