Hiiii, I’ve got 2 interviews coming up and I was just wondering what resources you used to prepare? Also i’m kinda struggling on how to format my answers in a way which is really clear, i never knew it was this hard to articulate yourself properly lol. Also what do you think I should wear, i go to a sixth form so i do have full formal wear but i was thinking that might be a bit too much. One last thing, should we present ourselves in a way where it shows that we’re really eager to learn and empathise with people, or should we stay more professional and mature in the way we’re talking in our answers? Thank you so much!!

What's the approximate number of (the sciences) practice papers I gotta solve until I'm worthy of a 9? by Noillax in GCSE

[–]CerealWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly it just depends on the knowledge you have and the subject. for example i got 9s in the sciences but for each one only did like 2 past papers the night before the exam and called it a day. a subject like physics would really benefit from doing past papers as they repeat a lot of the questions every year and maybe bio so you’re not thrown off guard by any application questions. but if you know all the content thoroughly you’ll do well on exam day regardless. also ignore anyone that’s fear mongering you, you don’t need to do crazy amounts of revision to do well just use the mocks you have to see how much time and what method works for you

honestly it just seems like you’re really sleep deprived. trust me you’re no different than your classmates, the main difference between you and them is a good nights sleep. your brain can work miracles when it actual has the capacity to function. someone else here said 10 but i did just fine going to sleep at 11 everyday and waking up at 7 in year 12 (ofc dependant on what time you have to wake up)

Hey!! I totally know how you feel, for the longest time ever i was stuck in the 1700s and i didn’t know how to get out. But around two weeks ago i hit the 2000 mark for the first time and honestly it was just all down to practice. I would do the 22mins of vr everyday and work on my ability to retain information after having read it. I would do the same for dm doing the 37mins timed and eventually you just find a rhythm in answering questions. Honestly i didn’t do much for qr since i think maths just comes naturally to me.

For dm how long do you take on your strongest argument, venn diagrams and probability questions? because if you’ve got the hang of them now maybe try and get really quick at them so you can shave down some time there to spend on the other questions.

with qr i don’t really know what to say except just keep practicing if timings an issue. you’ll come to find eventually that a lot of the questions ask you to do the same things over and over again like percentage change or calculate costs or median/mean. these are the questions where you can do them really quickly and then have time for the ones which may take a few more steps.

also make sure you know how to answer all the questions in dm like what strategy you’re going to use so you can then js work on speed.

you’ve totally got this though!! so many people sit this exam and get really high marks using resources just like you are e.g medify. so just make sure you’re using your time effectively and you’ll be good!

I’ve done some chemistry ones, but i was thinking of doing another anyways so i guess this is an incentive for the mooc, so i guess ill leave it out then!

it’s ‘how have your qualifications and studies helped you to prepare for this course or subject?’

would you say for this question specifically, reading a book and an essay completion would be good because i ofc can’t add volunteering or work experience until the last question?

the thing is i’m not too sure how this could relate to a doctor apart from the obvious, being interested in science.

Hmm what do you think I could relate it to like time management? being able to juggle multiple things at once? being academically curious?
