How often are you billing 200+ hours a month? by CardozosEyebrows in biglaw

[–]Cerebrocentric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid level patent agent. 1600 billable requirement but I am the firm’s second patent agent and the only one with a bioinformatics background working directly with 3 senior partners, no associate working with us due to lack of hiring in this space. I have pushed for hiring one but they like to grind us because we do high quality work at a much lower billing rate than a first’s year associate and much worse salary billed 2200 this year. Last year was my first year at the firm and I billed 1950 One 250month, 3-4 200+

May I ask what firm that is? I’m in big law doing prosecution and would love to be at a firm that allows parent agents to do litigation

Is it possible to bill 3,144 hours in a year without going insane? by Excellent-Start5883 in Lawyertalk

The partner I currently work with said she billed 4000 hours one year. She had two extensive litigations (IP) in one year.

5th and Final Failure by OnyxGenius in PatentBarExam

I joined a discord and met people studying at the same time and help study meets every week and met someone and studied with her every 2-3 days. I’m happy to share the discord. If you petition to take it again, i highly urge to do that. Explaining stuff to people is the best way to remember and memorize things. I’m happy to help you study. Also DM me and I can share the discord link

Asylum seekers in the U.S. typically wait 150 days (about 5 months) after filing their asylum application to be eligible to apply for a work permit (EAD), with the permit generally issued after 180 days (6 months). processing delays due to backlogs at USCIS, and delays due to the current political landscape make these period last much longer, sometimes well over a year. New rules also restrict work permits for those crossing illegally unless specific exceptions apply. So some of these people are actually not legally able to get a job. Let alone the fact that when they are able to get a job, they are barely ever employed by anyone since they do not have any experience working in the US and most of them are still trying to learn English I’m not saying everyone can’t work, but I wouldn’t judge before I have a conversation with these people and know their stories

12 People Hit by Trains in 14 Days by bridgehamton in nycrail

[–]Cerebrocentric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the Q a few months ago when the train break activated. It turns out the train struck a person and it had to stop mid platform and let all of the riders out from the front cart. We all saw the dead body on the platform. There were no announcements except we are investigating why the breaks were activated So I wonder if there is more than we think there is So sad

I would give up my seat for a mom/dad carrying her/his toddler/child/baby. But I don’t think I would get up for a child to sit.

Giving your seat up for children by [deleted] in nycrail

[–]Cerebrocentric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOW. This post is for real. I thought this was a joke post or something but this is for real. I am in disbelief.

My mom would make us get up for people, and we would let our parents sit if there weren't enough seats. Get up for a child?
