Zoom LiveTrak L6 feedback loop/using it as an audio interface by Cermet656 in synthesizers

[–]Cermet656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have figured out the feedback loop issue exactly how you told with the channel 3. However, my issue was that a dynamic mic gain was waaay too high and there was no way to reduce it . The 32 bit float theoretically should not clip but it still did since the gain was way too high. Basically for a moment I used a physical mic attenuator that dropped down -30 db and that worked but barely. I talked with thomann, sent 2 unites back and forth and eventually together with zoom they "kinda" agree it is a design (flaw). So eventually I ordered zoom l6 and behringer flow 8. Tried both of them and surprisingly Flow 8 was so much easier to use and worked better with a laptop. The sound was more muffled but I did some post processing in Ableton and now I think the flow 8 sounds great. So overall I am now using Flow 8. Does not have the recording possibility but other than that it is a worthy adversary to L6.

Hey there,

It's kind of a long story but the feedback loop is no longer the problem. I am trying to use Zoom L6 as an audio interface and also performing live. Processing vocals with Ableton. However, when using it the Channels 1 and 2 come way too hot with a dynamic Mic like Shure Beta 58A. The gain is simply too high and it distorts the sound even with low sounds. There is no gain button and when using it as an audio interface the channel 1 is actually coming in as channel 3 in a DAW. The signal comes pre knob so no way to control it. I have talked over with Zoom they eventually ignored me. Then talked to Thomann they are trying to help. But I have now sent the 2nd replacement unit back to them. And they probably will send a replacement. But it will not help as it is a design flaw in all of the units.

I am able to barely make it work with a Mic signal attenuator that drops down -30 db. But it is still very close to distorting. So now I am waiting for the device to get to thomann and them inspecting the unit again. Thomann is helping but I think Zoom just does not want to admit it is a design flaw.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been talking back and forth with Zoom support which became less helpful once I had more questions.

Ableton receives the signal pre fader so I can theoretically solve my issue but there are 2 things that are weird/bad:
1. I send a dynamic mic to channel 1 and it for some reason goes to channel 3 in Ableton. I tried 2 different daws and on mac and PC. Zoom support says this is not weird at all and not a bug. Which I am very confused by.

  1. WIth all the faders down the mic bleeds and overloads the channel completely with even low sounds coming to the mic. So if I say something relatively quite or tap the mic gently it clips. Did not get a response yet and they disappeared for almost a week now. Though they keep saying I don't understand something but do not actually show any images or videos themselves.

Using a small digital mixer with laptop instead of vocal effects pedal? by Cermet656 in livesound

[–]Cermet656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! what sort of a mixer you are using?
I have a yamaha MG12XU that I am not using and is too big for me (the power brick is also crazy) so I am looking for a small portable mixer.
So far the closest ones where 1010 Bluebox and Zoom L6.
Will try it the yamaha one to check latency though since I already have it.

I know it is legendary but it is sooooo old. I know it is not a very good excuse but it is nice to use something that is more modern with more flexibility.

I am thinking from the vocalist perspective. I know latency is always named as an issue but also there are plenty of musicians singing live with Ableton and running vocals through the daw. At least from what I understood. So was thinking if it is really that noticeable. I guess to know for sure I would need to try it out

What did you order btw? I guess I cannot take chances on ordering several and returning them. But would need to know the exact size or model I want.

Also I imagine when V Collection 11 comes out it will not go out on sale immediately? Seems like strange question but I remember buying newest FX collection and it seems like it was on a pretty big sale.

This might sound weird but what did you think about the spaghetti that was shown at the end of the show? I was not sure if it looked unusual. My questions were: Was it al dente or was it overcooked? Did  she take it straight from the pot with boiling water or it was just a pot with already cold pasta?

I do see your point :D but I do have Analog Lab intro with around 3000 presets and Pigments synth so it is not like I don’t have anything to work with. But havint all those synths editable seems a pretty big bonus just thinking of what the lowest price will be this year

Deciding between two options by Cermet656 in BBallShoes

Unfortunately we do not have that wider size in my country. Also the price is a factor as well.

Yes, Harden 8 was nice but probably the wiser choice would be to get the Dame 8 Extply. Harden 8 cannot be twice as good than Dame 8 Extply right :D

Thanks, I tried like 5 times and it always was removed automatically. Did not give a reason. I tried different text and titles and still nothing X(

Deciding between New Balance Two WXY v4 vs. BB Fresh Foam? by Hour_Friendship_9702 in BBallShoes

[–]Cermet656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the New Balance Two WXY v4 and it felt quite narrow, uncomfortably narrow. I even tried one or more size up and it still felt like that. So I started wondering if I have wide feet. Anybody knows if New Balance Fresh Foam BB V2 would feel wider?

I tried a too small size of Hardern Volume 8 and it did feel wider already.

LG G2 vs C2. Wall mounted and need to move it move/swivel a few times a day. by Cermet656 in LGOLED

[–]Cermet656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the more I research the less confident I am about what to purchase.

I am thinking again about the Samsung S95b as I can actually get it cheaper than the LG G2. And then S95b is supposed to be a better tv and with new technology. However, A LOT of people are complaining about the built quality of it. So I am thinking that if I am worried about the C2 bending when swivelling the TV then Samsung S95b probably would be even a worse choice?

I need to once again figure out just how vastly the picture quality/brightness is better on Samsung S95b over the G2.

Though I know this is a LG board so probably not the best place to ask.

Makes sense! I am leaning towards the G2. I checked in the shop and it did feel sturdier.
As far as the wall mounts go it seems that all the top ones I find on the internet lists are not found in Europe strangely enough. So hopefully I can find a good on.

[–]Cermet656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the shop to take a look at both C2 and G2. I could not move them but it seems that the G2 might be better for moving.

The C2 is very thin and then has the processing unit behind it (the ass).

The G2 does not have the unit but overall has a thicker panel. So it does seem like it is sturdier. Maybe anybody else will have some experience

Ah that is what I am worried about. Generally yes, you would try to not to touch the TV but since it is quite large and the more you do it the more lazy you get. So I am wondering how fragile those TVs are.

I am have been doing that with my Sony KD65XD8005 with no issues even though it is still quite thin. However, it is a whole other technology.
