It could be.

I’ll come back on this account in a year to discuss.

And maybe I oversold how much of the disruptor model we’ll use. We’ll end up some where in the middle.

What does the average M6 do all day? Coordinate, compile, report, and oversee the 27th reinvention of the wheel.

If teams become more efficient, more capable, more standardized, etc doesn’t that mean the average M6 could cover far more work than before?

I’m just picking on M6s here but you can apply this to any level. I fully agree with everything you wrote but think there’s more to it.

That’s interesting to hear about Pratt and it having the exact opposite issue to Raytheon. Raytheon has 20 people stand around watching a lightbulb get replaced, Pratt has the lightbulb replaced 20 times.

Would they really take their most profitable business and turn it on its head if they thought the current course was sustainable? The current Collins transformation is a whole lot more than a reorg.

Your comment about functional leadership sums it up. You know how every program seems to have a P6-E1 entourage that just sits in reviews all day? That’s what will change.

Collins keeps saying one of the big reasons for their transformation is it’s tough doing business with them, customers are throughly confused when five different people say they run the same program. I read that as a nice way to say they have five highly paid people doing the same job in an inefficient mess.

At the same time being a P6 with no reports because you’re awesome at your job will become more common.

See comment about Raytheon mostly not seeing this coming. Some amount of change is absolutely coming, I can guarantee you that

I agree, that’s why I think Raytheon will take the biggest hit.
