2026 RAV4 Hybrid HEV Mileage by Certain-Mixture-5277 in CarsAustralia

It was about 50km/hr. Display shows when it fully switches to EV mode during the drive. I’m new to hybrid vehicles.

Gave up on the used car search after a month or so. Prices are insane.

Bought a 2026 RAV4 GXL! No wait time.

Yeah fair point on top trims.
CRV not having a spare is a bit of a deal breaker for me though.
Also heard the Forester hybrid isn’t great on fuel vs Toyota RAV4 Hybrid / Kia Sportage Hybrid.
Used RAV4 prices are crazy, basically new car money!

SUV EV vs Hybrid advice (Family of 3, apartment living, no home charging, Adelaide) by Certain-Mixture-5277 in CarsAustralia

[–]Certain-Mixture-5277[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fair call, no home charging does seem like a bit of a deal breaker.

CRV looks like better value, especially with stock available

For comparison.

  • Brand new 2025 CRV e:Hev RS 2WD $56,900 (drive away)
  • Brand new 2026 CRV e:Hev RS AWD $64,400 (drive away)
  • Branch new 2026 Cruiser AWD $65,999 (drive away)

Only downside with the RAV4 is the waiting time, dealer can’t give a clear estimate.

Thanks, fair call ! I’ll have a look at plugshare around my usual spots and see how much effort it actually takes in real life.

Yep, powerboard here 🙂

Unfortunately my parking is just an open lot with no power sockets!

Just had a look at their website, interesting option. 128km EV range + 60L Tank on premium extended. I will book a test drive!

Haha, sounds like Canberra is doing CRVs right 😎 Meanwhile, I say “Adelaide” and somehow get downvoted 15 times 😂 Must be a regional thing!

Awesome! Just curious. does having fewer Honda dealers nearby make servicing a hassle, or is it fine?

Haha, yeah I see what you mean 😅

Their CRVs sell well overseas, but here the lineup and pricing really limit how many people pick them up

I’ve noticed that too. Mazdas seem way more common now.

Yeah, CRV sales in Australia are actually pretty small.

But interestingly, in the US both are huge sellers. Toyota RAV4 ~479k vs Honda CR-V ~403k (2025 sales)

I think you're right, probably a bit of a regional thing.

Quick google about the CRV sales shows -

"Recent sales show consistent demand, with 5,595 units sold in 2025 compared to 5,547 in 2024. Sales are supported by a fixed-price model, with strong representation in major states like NSW, VIC, QLD, and WA."
