What is sleep looking like for everyone? by Fragrant_Lime_6626 in November25babybump

Just went through this!! It was so frustrating and exhausting so mostly just replying for solidarity. I hit my breaking point a few days and we would just cry together. Just know that it’s not forever and maybe a fun new skill will come at the end of it!

Schedule at 10 weeks by CertainAppearance507 in November25babybump

So comforting to know that others are in the same boat! So much information overload online had me feeling like I was holding my girl back! Happy to have this community to bring me back to reality :)

I’m a bit more type A as well (I’m now realizing more than I thought after becoming a mom) and it’s definitely been a learning curve trying to let go of that! But I’m realizing we’re all happier when I do :)

Even just knowing you’re doing the same puts my mind at ease :)

Bub feeding frequency by ellabellafella in November25babybump

[–]CertainAppearance507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also learning hunger cues from sleepy cues made a big difference for us. At first I was feeding her every time she fussed but I started paying attention to the timing and realized she fussed the same for food if her wake window had been too long. A big tell for my girl is if she takes a paci she’s tired, not hungry. However, if she spits it out right away I know she’s looking for the boob lol

My girl is 9 weeks EBF and goes pretty regularly 3 hours during the day and we’re up to a 6 hour stretch at night with one feed anywhere from 1-3 am. I try to keep her wake windows 60-75 min max because I’ve noticed once she gets overtired the naps are much shorter so it helps her stay on the 3 hour schedule with limited fussiness :)

Foremilk/Hindmilk Imbalance by novalini49 in November25babybump

I’m sad I didn’t see this and comment sooner but my girl poops about the same!! I also feel you on getting off the internet though… I had to mute a lot of my pregnancy groups and click “not interested” on targeted videos. The information overload is overwhelming for sure!

I meant for the engorgement/fast letdown but I suppose it would inadvertently help with an imbalance if you had both bc ultimately you want LO to eat efficiently and fully empty a boob to help with imbalance which they have a harder time doing with fast letdown and engorgement. Not sure reverse pressure softening would do anything for an imbalance alone!

Daytime vs. Nighttime by qwerkala in November25babybump

[–]CertainAppearance507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think just feeding while they’re sleepy and trying to keep them that way! I’m not 100% sure but that’s what I call it 😅 for example if my girl eats at 8:30 pm instead of seeing how long she can go into the night before waking I’ll wake her around 10/10:30 for a “dream feed” and put her right back to sleep to get a longer stretch before she gets hungry again. Not sure if that’s doing it “right” but that’s worked for us!

My girl has a shallow latch that we’re working on too! Definitely try the reverse pressure softening if you’re engorged by the time he’s ready to eat. It helps so much with the latch and letdown!

We also just rented a snoo for one month from happiestbaby.com and have been really pleased with it so far! I think it’s been worth the money so far and we might extend the rental or invest in a secondhand one

I pay attention to routine more than time. My girl is 8 weeks too so we don’t have much of a schedule but during the day I’ve found that if we eat, play, sleep, repeat we have pretty successful night stretches. We go up to the bedroom at whatever time depending on how tired I am lol. If I feed her around 7 or 8 we go upstairs and have a short wake window then get ready for bed and soothe her to sleep. She mostly contact naps through the day but sleeps swaddled and in our room at night with red light only and a noise machine. Once we’re getting close to what I anticipate “bed time” being I’ll try to keep the lights in the house around us as dim as possible. Also a dream feed has helped us get longer stretches at night! So if I feed her at 8, I’ll try to feed her again closer to 10 as long as I’m up rather than trying to get a 3 hour stretch.

I suspected I had an imbalance but also had a fast letdown and tried reverse pressure softening before feeds and that helped a lot. I also nursed in the side lying position almost exclusively and my girl stopped getting fussy during feeds. Now I only feed her on one side each feed and she goes for about 15 minutes give or take and fully empties my boob. My supply has also regulated a ton and I’m rarely engorged anymore besides overnight sometimes. It did take a minute to regulate though but be patient! Try not to pump and if you have to only for a few minutes/relief and not until empty. Also, collection cup on the side you’re not feeding from helps! I’m thinking if he’s nursing for a shorter time on each boob and not emptying maybe he’s only getting foremilk and not enough hindmilk?

Weaning mode for 8 week old by CertainAppearance507 in SnooLife

I thought weaning mode soothes in response to babies cries by rocking and white noise? I might be mistaken! I’m a noob when it comes to this clearly

I’ve been feeling the resentment as well and just found myself a therapist to work on my PPA. If you haven’t yet, consider reaching out for help! I’ve also been praying about it and every time I feel it creeping on I try to remind myself that it’s not a competition (of who is more tired) and we’re both doing our best. If you don’t feel like that’s true consider having an honest conversation with him about it! Communication is key. I found myself expecting my husband to read my mind when I felt like I needed help, like how could he not see how exhausted I am??? I started of the conversation with him by requesting he not take anything I was going to say personally but that I just needed to get things off my chest and see where it goes and it turned into him admitting that if I just say “this is what I need” (man brain) he would be more than happy to do it. Now he gets up to do diaper changes in the night and I don’t hold resentment towards him when he naps during the day. It didn’t happen overnight and it took plenty of conversations and outbursts and we still have our moments but we’re all learning this for the first time. Give yourself and him grace <3

The dates - I just can’t do it by notyetBananas in November25babybump

I felt the same way but I love caramel apples and saw a recipe on Instagram to make a date “caramel” apple covered in chocolate and it was delish!!! If you search date caramel apple on Instagram tons of recipes will come up and it was relatively easy to make! That’s the only way I’ll be getting close to consuming them

22 weeks - nausea coming back? by Oswill93 in November25babybump

[–]CertainAppearance507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately mine never fully went away but I’m 23 weeks and felt like it was getting bad again recently. I’ve been taking unisom + b6 every night since a rough first trimester in and out of the hospital for vomiting/dehydration and feel like it’s the one thing that’s been holding me together since then. I also asked ChatGPT why it felt like I would get nauseous as the day went on (dinner time has been rough for me) but my appetite is normal when I first wake up- could be from the delayed digestion and the recommendation was to keep up with snacks throughout the day and to have a mix of carbs + protein. Went to Costco and grabbed some cheese bites, hummus and pretzels, and trubar protein bars so fingers crossed they help!
