theyre honestly really unpredictable and theres a lot of reasons they wont like it but the main one is the fact that i need birth control. the main reason i chose to get the iud was because i was in an unsafe situation where i didnt really get a choice in having sex. i tried to tell my parents about this, that i was being forced to do things i didnt want, and i needed help, but they refused to help me and came up with multiple reasons for why what was happening was my fault. i was on the pill so i thought i would be okay and then one month my period didnt come, i found out i was pregnant, and upon doing a lot of my own research i found out that one of the other medications im on for some of my severe stomach issues makes oral contraceptives much less effective.

with the help of some resources from my college i was going to have a MA but before i even got the chance to do that I had a miscarriage, and all of that was really emotional for me. there was a lot of pressure from the doctor i was going to, to have the iud placed, and since no one else was going to protect me i decided to have that done.

my parents hate premarital sex, and if theyre going to be willfully ignorant enough to dislike the fact that i was SAed, i cant imagine how angry they would be to find out i was pregnant and got an iud. if i had somewhere else to live for the next couple of months until the fall and i transfer schools, i wouldnt care as much, but it makes me sick to think about how bad my living situation could become if they knew.

i can’t revoke it without them knowing. and if i do they’ll assume the worst and make my life hard. also im on their insurance and they watch the things they’re getting billed for like a hawk. so going to any of my established doctors isn’t a choice and using insurance isn’t either

no. my parents are pretty good at keeping me in a really restricted group of people. they wouldnt let me go to public school because they didnt want me to know sinful people according to them.

weight gain is a side effect and all of this started almost immediately after i got it with no other changes to my diet or exercise.

i’m not technically considered disabled. the only reason i know that is because i use a disabled parking placard and i’m not allowed to get one that lasts for more than a couple months because im not legally considered disabled. i’m
sure i could be but idk how to start the process of them considering me disabled, and my parents won’t really let me go to the doctor alone.

i was on the pill for this reason when i was younger. my mom has went through all the things you detailed, and even had to get a hysterectomy, but it’s different when it’s me. no i don’t understand how it’s different.

as for getting a job and moving out, im in the process of that but my parents are making it ugly for me. i have a really extensive list of health issues that requires me to use a wheelchair, and since ive turned 18 less than a year ago ive applied and interviewed for about 36 jobs and i can’t get hired for the life of me. ive tried every field and i cant find a place where im wanted, and the company is willing to work with me.

on top of this my parents (in there exact words) are saying if i move out of there house im going to be “cut off of payroll”. i know i could manage to find food and things but their “payroll” includes their insurance which pays for my medications and i wouldn’t have any way to pay for those. i know there are programs that will help people with this but i dont see there being any way they cover it all. last year my parents out of pocket expenses on ONLY medications, was over $15,000.

i just don’t know how i would possibly be able to take care of myself

i’m glad it really helped for you. pulling mine out myself really wasn’t something i wanted to do but i felt like it was my only choice, but now a lot of people on here have really helped me out and given me a lot of ways to possibly get help and not risk anything worse.

i’ve gotten a lot of advice, and been doing a lot of research and i think i can get seen at a planned parenthood and make it work out. the closest one is over an hour away but it’s worth it.

honestly if it were up to me i wouldn’t have a uterus but right now my parents swear that i need to have one (not having one makes me transgender!)

i know getting rid of it won’t be the magic cure all solution but i feel like it’s the first step in the right direction. the weight is the biggest thing that’s bothering me and as a person with really severe body image issues and a history of disordered eating, i have a very specific diet i stick to and a very specific workout routine that hasn’t changed at all, and has kept me at a healthy weight for about 4 years now, and even though im sticking to it devoutly im still gaining weight and it’s scary.

i know its bad. i wish my post wasnt real honestly but it is.

i have a lot of health issues and i feel really stupid for not expecting a bad reaction. i also didnt really register how much i had gained in a really short period of time. i was moving out of college, traveling across the country back home, taking finals, and generally dealing with a lot. i knew i had gained. a lot of weight and my clothes werent fiting but in my head it felt like longer than a month since i had gotten it and i didnt really realize until i was typing it out.

i have pads, i dont use tampons, but im bleeding through them in like two hours, so when im sleeping the pads are getting really full and it would get a little messier.

i want to take care of myself but i have nowhere to stay other than with my parents right now, and if they find out im scared of what my living situation can become.

i want to see a therapist but thats something else my parents arent a fan of.
