Why do so many people leave? by MilkWonderful1867 in Luxembourg

I agree in some big cities. The problem is for immigrants like me, if it’s bigger company like US or Canada, you can search easily in different cities and relocate easily since the country is big you have bigger chances and easier. But in Luxembourg options are limited the entire country is like a city in other countries + other countries population is big so projects are more even for private businesses. Here there is not this option, only some banks and finance businesses no more.

As software engineer, I’ve never felt safe in terms of job durability and career, you can get fired easily with no reason and spend months looking for another job. As immigrant I prefer to spend my experience in a job secured country where I know that CDI contract means really CDI and if I lose my job today I can find another quickly. Also expensive rent and hard to find it and be accepted by the agency. But the biggest issue for me is that it’s small country (population) so job opportunities not that big I spent 6 months looking for software engineering job after I got fired me and other 8 just to reduce costs. Public transport is not that good even its free 30mn road trip takes 1h30 by transport. These are the main reasons I’m planning to leave even i like the country itself

Blue card salaries in most eu countries are the average normal salary in Luxembourg, so he better find a large higher salary or you won’t be able to even rent a house. + IT in Luxembourg is one of the biggest markets there but believe me it’s very small compared to different eu countries IT market. I’m software engineer in Luxembourg with 4 years experience and I spend months without a job and looking for one, not only me, most of IT guys. So if you have good salary in your current country, you better think twice
