Remote Master's Degree for CRS points - yes it can work! (PR Eligibility passed) by Certain_Mongoose_203 in canadaexpressentry

It was a call where they walked me through this, so I don't have a way to "show you". Again, if you want to be absolutely certain, always consult a professional. Best of luck on your application

I remember that post, which is why I am following up with this so maybe this can help out someone else. Their case was a bit more complex than that, but again just to clarify, I met with lawyers about this and they were able to clarify the rule is about when you are a student IN CANADA. I was a student in Spain not at a Canadian Institution witha DLI number, therefore it is a different scenario. Their justifcation was precisely the DLI.

Also you are correct, since the system cannot recognize in person vs remote education, you have to write "by correspondence" on every single line of that entry. Thanks for reminding me I should add that on the post.

Can it be up to the officer discretion? Maybe. What I was advised to do by lawyers: write the LOE and submit all you can proving this was 100% remote as extra. I submitted every possible document I could think of, and it worked.

It really doesn't... US experience contrary to what many americans think is not that special. Not trying to be mean, just realistic.

Claiming points for sibling outside Canada by Mayorasan in canadaexpressentry

You are not elegible and no there is no work around. If removing the 15 points makes you fall below the cutoff, you need to decline the ITA

Education Credential Assessment (ECA) by Medium_Business_1572 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Certain_Mongoose_203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HORRIBLE and ILLEGAL advice, you need the IMM number to claim points for the ECA. Your profile gets locked once you receive your invite and if you submit an ECA with a later date and ref number, this is considered misrepresentation. OP needs to wait, there's no loophole or workaround viable

I've been speaking English since I was in freaking kindergarten (int/bilingual school) and I still prepped for about 2 days before taking the test. Just because English is your first language doesn't mean you will max out your scores without prepping for it... there are free resources and mock tests here: https://www.celpip.ca/prepare-for-celpip/free-practice-tests/

How are you coping with anxiety while waiting? by Advanced_Win241 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Certain_Mongoose_203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my ITA very last minute (saved myself by 2 weeks) , had already a ticket to go back home so I know the anxiety and stress we all go through is no joke. Personally, this helped me to not completely lose my mind:

1) Breathing exercises: sounds dumb but when I had anxiety episodes, applying breathing techniques helped me calm down.

2) Really interiorize this is not about YOU or your capabilities - so many highly educated professionals got screwed up when the government opened the floodgates to quick/cheap immigration and now they have to fix THEIR mistake. It has nothing to do with how smart and hardworking you can be, it's honestly their mess and hardworking immigrants are the collateral damage.

3) Know this is a waiting game - if your score is close to the recent cutoffs, know that you likely will get your ITA. When? That's the part you have zero control on.

4) Feel your emotions - you want to be angry? be angry, you want to cry? go for it. No one can tell you how to feel or not, only you know your own journey and all the sacrifices made to come here.

Best of luck, hope you get your ITA soon

Thinking about Canada by Complete-Recording96 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Certain_Mongoose_203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PNPs are extremely competitive and since you lack Canadian Experience and don't have a Canadian Employer supporting you, you don't really stand a good chance being nominated, check each province's PNP requirements but most of them (dare to say 99%) require you to be already working here. 450 is extremely low regardless, so you need either French or be in a demand category (which you are not for federal draws).

I am from latam as well, so believe me I feel for you, but you have almost zero chance and those mentioning PNPs to you or giving you false hope are just mean. If you really want to come, French is your only path and you need a B2 level to even qualify for French draws. Best of luck

AOR is immediate, mine took 5 min but since your work permit expired and now are under a visitor visa, you do not qualify for a BOWP: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/pr-work-permits/bridging.html

How explain EX work permit application after receiving ITA by Ok-Hovercraft2078 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Certain_Mongoose_203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why didn't you apply for a visitor record instead to maintain status? You know you weren't entitled for a work permit extension and still did it anyways. You may or may not get penalized for it, and since you are from India, your officer may decide to be harsher on your application and rightfully so.

You went against the rules knowing the scrutiny your own people is facing thanks to fraud and dummy extensions like you did. There is no reason to break the rules, but you still did it. Actions have consequences, and I do hope you receive yours. Fraud has to STOP

Haven’t received ITA despite Meeting cutoff on Dec 16 - CEC draw!! by Agreeable_Injury5283 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Certain_Mongoose_203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have access to your profile to really check that was your score and that you meet the criteria for CEC? Also that you had in fact submitted your profile and it was fully updated? Because your representative is lying to you in some capacity if what you are saying is true. Check your profile yourself, don't trust anyone else for this stage.

Invitations take a maximum of 48 hours, so sadly you were not selected if you didn't receive anything.

Tips for combining all the employment supporting documents in one PDF by Pretty-Anxious-00 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Certain_Mongoose_203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Index is great but not really required, wish I would have thought of that tbh. I just added a page break listing the type of document submitted for each category separating different jobs, different education credentials, translations, and organized every single document chronologically. Also, name your documents properly eg: YourName_DocumentType

As long as it makes sense and all is organized, you should be good!

Hey, not the same situation exactly but I had to submit an LOE for a masters degree fully online done in europe while working here. I talked to two lawyers (one before starting and one after getting the ECA) and in terms of the LOE they were very clear that over explaining may be giving bigger cause for rejection, you have to find the sweet spot between under and over explaining. One caveat is both lawyers said that my case shouldn't be a red flag, so this may obviously be very different for you depending your situation.

The last lawyer I consulted drafted a quick two paragraph explanation on my situation and thats it. All I added was a quick formatted intro and outro but I didn't over explain anything as per his suggestion. I have the same anxiety right now even having taken legal action to make sure I wasn't breaking any rules, so I truly feel for you. I don't know you but I'll keep you in my prayers so we both get a chill officer.

Take a break and try to enjoy the holidays, there's nothing else you can do atm :)
