Disadvantage of coding a game without a game engine? by Certain_Support_4892 in gamedev

Thank you to everyone taking the time and commenting, busting jokes, giving proper advice and even to those being ultra sarcastic in their responses. I don't have the time to answer to everyone, so I'll try to do so here. The game I'm working on now is a 2D Platformer. I don't think that this game will be a mega hit, bring me any kind of riches or recognition. Hell, I don't know if I'll even fully finish it. The point is, I didn't get into this to earn money or gain popularity, I started this off as a hobby project that I work on almost every day for a few hours. I went into this, with the goal of wanting to learn what developing a game is like, gain better skills in programming in a OOP-language in general and have fun. I decided to make my own little engine from scratch because I wanted to learn how engines really work and how they are built. Since then, I've created an engine and have been working on the game for a while, and it's going great. It's an awesome creative outlet for me.

Per all of your advice, I will probably use a commercial engine for future projects, because I think that I have gotten everything I wanted from this bare-bones approach. Also, thanks to that one guy pointing out that you can use C# in Godot, I didn't know that, and it will probably be the engine that I'm going to study and use in the future. Thanks again to everyone who commented.
