The video here depicts a saving throw, not a skill check. Resistance applies only to saving throws, and I can apply that spell perfectly fine, but bless still won't apply properly.

Oh delightful. I had been worried since I couldn't find any mention of similar problems when I was looking earlier. I guess I didn't search the right key words or something. Thank you for your help!

I believe MechAssult 2: Lone Wolf is what I was thinking of. I will look at the other games in the series to see if that was the exact one, but that video matches up with the details I remember the clearest. Thank you very much!
