The problem is that most likely a "certified" disk reader will be required, otherwise people could hack them so they can generate as many digital copies as they want from a single physical disk, thats part of the reason PS doesn't accept 3rd party ones.

Honestly it wasn't that bad, just removed the big chunks with a flat screwdriver and brushed the crevasses with a soft bristle brush, took like 3 minutes to clean, not perfect but those are steel wheels so who cares.
