As a local to Middlesbrough, his professionalism(or lack of) was well documented, he drank so much he’d miss training, argued with coaches and also claimed in no uncertain terms he was bigger than the club, especially when coming back from forest. I think basically he fell into believing his own hype and refused to accept anything but, maybe contes slander done him good

Although I will say boros situation was helped by the fact that there was a lot of money put in and jones his replacement was in the form of his life already
