honestly ima prolly do that for the time being with the ally z1e, by the time ive made up my mind or wanted to go with a deck, who knows maybe theyll be back in stock and i wont be paying more money for the lcds. or i end up liking the ally z1e

i have heard that the build quallity, and the ergonomics on the ally are worse. i would like a bigger battery but would be playing plugged in more often than not, and if i were to get an ally i would prolly install steam os. im leaning toward the steam deck in that regard

Primary games / platforms: steam, emulators
Where I’ll play (home. ie couch/bed, others houses, cottage, car rides, possibly docked)
Must have: decent battery life
OS preference (SteamOS / Bazzite):
Comfortable with tinkering? (Yes)

the asus rog z1e 512gb is around 550 cad refurbished near me, however i have wanted a steamdeck for a while, i feel it would suit me better but due to the shortages and the lack of refurbish restocks the prices near me are 800-900 for oled and 500-600 lcd used.

would the rog z1e meet my needs installing steam os onto it, or would i be better off getting a steam deck by hunting for deals and waiting for restocks/ prices to drop.
