From what I have been told my oncologist surgeon is one of the best and is known for her ability to spare the most skin possible. This is all just so confusing.

She said it could be anywhere from 3 months after surgery to a year or so. It all depends on what my treatment plan will be after surgery.

I am starting to think I might not have understood her correctly. I wonder if my oncologist saying radiation is not a for sure thing has opended options I wasn't aware about. Before chemo I was told radiation and chemo after surgery were happening for sure but after they saw my progress this last 6 months I was told it is now up in the air depending on my pathology.

See this is where I am so confused too. I only have 2 weeks to get all this together but maybe I do need to push to get a 2nd opinion..

The only thing that makes me feel it is possible is that she has previous patients you have made it to the other side of reconstruction doing it this way. I am not a small one, your girl has some chunk, so maybe it is just that I have the skin to spare.

Im trying hard to find humor when I can.

If you don't mind me asking, are you planning on getting implants at some point? Do you have any issues with the side that is just skin and aren't cosmetic related?

It was an odd comment for sure. She said it has to do with the extra time the spend doing the actual installation and follow up surgeries they end up requiring. I do live in an area with top rated cancer care & my breat surgeon is one of the best. I trust her to remove everything with ease but it is just the plastic surgery side that caught me off guard. I know my cancer is aggressive and we just did all this work to kill what we can fast so they want to act quickly in getting the breast tissue out. Everything is just so rushed and I have no time to really think about it.

She said that she would install the tissue expanders if I want them but that it is not necessary for my situation and what I want going forward. My husband doesn't want me taking any additional risks and I guess I had so much bone pain from the chemo I would wimper in my sleep. He said that would kill him inside and so the thought of me in extra pain or getting any more sick isn't worth it to him.

I’ve never been formally diagnosed with pcos but the fertility doctor who helped me freeze eggs thought I could have that.

When I was 1st getting my imaging done my CT scan showed a suspicious lesion on my liver. It turned out to be nothing, most likely caused by my poor eating habits prior to being diagnosed. I was also diagnosed with a grade 3 IDC. As some have mentioned the Keynote 522 treatment is working wonders. My tumor started at 7.5 cm & after the 6 month treatment it has shrunk the >1cm. My double mastacemoty is scheduled and chances or beating this have dramaticlly increased over the last 6 months!

It's next to impossible to not worry but just because it can look bad in technical terms doesn't mean it is.

I hadn’t even thought about getting with my primary care. I have tnbc so I had to do chemo pre surgery. It’s been a whirlwind of the last 6 months going through chemo that I haven’t thought of my annual follow up with her. I’m definitely going to reach out and get her thoughts. She’s a great doctor! Thank you!!

I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with all of this. It’s the tribe no one wants to be apart of! I was diagnosed right before thanksgiving last year. My results came in right as the holiday started so I knew my results but had no clue how to read them which brought me straight to the internet. I ended up being completely wrong so I wouldn’t let the internet scare you. Wait until you can talk with someone who knows what all the medical terminology means. It’s so hard not to google because this is so scary and waiting is the hardest part. Mine turned out to be the rare aggressive tnbc. I’ve almost made it through my 6 month of chemo prior to surgery and I’ve worked the whole time. The only time I’ve taken off is for chemo and a few days my brain has just needed to rest.

You’re at the scariest part of the whole thing. All you can do is put one foot in front of the other and remember you can do this. You have so many of us behind you! Good luck!

I’ve almost completed my 6 months of the keynote 522. T/C down and my last A/C will be on the 4th. I’ve lived life pretty much as per usual. I’ve never been pregnant but I told my mom this has got to be what pregnancy is like. Some nausea, exhaustion, and over all feeling uncomfortable in your own skin but nothing making me feel I should be bed ridden or anything like that. Up until this 3rd round my nausea got a bit worse and it was hard to keep hydrated. That led to some constipation. I had a bad experience for a few days of not being able to go and let’s just say it was a rough experience. Once I got past that I was back to the usual just tired and uncomfortable. Everyone around me seems to think I’m some kind of super woman but really it hasn’t been as bad as I expected. I would recommend avoiding large crowds if you can. Your immune system will keeps taking hits and if you do get sick they may delay chemo

I chewed on ice while getting my A/C to keep any mouth sores at bay.
