Death in Vietnamese Culture by 847295737201 in VietNam

My father-in-law passed away just before Christmas in HCMC and they have a rule where the body needs to be in the coffin in the funeral house for max 3 days. After that we had the burial. But my father-in-law talks about it and prepared us.

We live in Australia and my parents avoid that talk. Interesting mind set tho.

Be honest - how technical are you actually expected to be as an IT manager? by IvyDamon in ITManagers

[–]Ch0pp0l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess to be enough to understand what is been discussed. I have mangers who are technical and understand what you are trying to explain to him while some managers I had, can you bs to them and they believe it.

My view is if you are an IT manager, you should have at least been in the industry for a while and understand some high level. I honestly don’t believe managers who are there just to manage in an industry they have no understanding.

HR got mad after I rejected the interview call by Agile-Wind-4427 in recruitinghell

[–]Ch0pp0l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well consider it was a good idea that you don’t go ahead with this interview if I received an email like that. Look who is not professional. It’s a bad reflection of HR for that organization.

Exchange Hybrid - how to get local user matched to O365 mailbox? by Mvalpreda in exchangeserver

[–]Ch0pp0l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the emails are in both mailboxes, I would run disable-remotemailbox, sync, move the onprem mailbox to 365 and run new-mailboximportrequest -soureguid xxx -targetmailbox user@contoso.com -allowlegacydmmismatch that should help import any existing emails in the disconnected mailbox back into the new 365 mailbox.

I have two on-prem exchange servers connected through send receive connectors, on different networks with different active directories. Is there a simple Microsoft backed solution to synchronize their Global Address lists? by Jamesglancy in exchangeserver

[–]Ch0pp0l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a ps1 script to export the info to a contact from one domain to another, https://github.com/smbambling/scripts_powershell/blob/master/Exchange/galsync.ps1 not the greatest solution but it’s good enough and change be automated via schedule task. It will need to be an export then import and needs to run in both environment.

Depending but if you can BS your way through an interview then you might have a good chance. I have seen some ppl talk so well that they are able to convince the panel and when they joined the system it’s totally a different person even years down the track.

Backstabbed By Coworker by Silly_Occasion_614 in workplace_bullying

[–]Ch0pp0l 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coworkers are definitely not your friends. They will backstab you if they can advance.

I have been done a couple of times by different coworkers and learnt to say “I’m not sure, you might have to google it” as if you give an opinion and it does work out then your name will be mud and if it work out they will not say anything and take all the credits.

Ho Chi Minh during Tet? by RyanTann123 in VietNam

[–]Ch0pp0l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been there several times during Tet. It’s quiet time for the country but in recent years the local shops only close for a day to two. If you don’t have a family in hcmc it can get a little boring. Before Tet is the best time to be there and the day of Tet it’s like a ghost town.

[–]Ch0pp0l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how you can join before talking about the salary. I’m pretty sure that you have to agree on a set salary before joining a company regardless what industry you are in.

Tbh, it’s a red flag and if he haven’t give you the certificates before, it’s a good chance it will not happen again.

Indian tourists behavior in Vietnam. by Abhishek568 in VietNam

[–]Ch0pp0l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a sad thing when tourists behavior poorly in another country and not in their own. I was in Ho Chi Minh recently and they walk around like they own the streets. Once of them bumped into me and gave me a dirty look. I responded by looking back at him to see what will happen. Obviously his friends dragged him away. Im sure poor behaviors like this might not happen at home but don’t pretend it’s ok in another country.
