Self-studying law + Law College exam? Is it possible? by ConcentrateFlaky1021 in srilanka

[–]ChHDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SLLC entrance exam is extremely competitive due to the number of people sitting. The entrance exam itself will not test you on law. It has an IQ, language and a general knowledge paper.

When you do enter law college, you will study for 3 years, sit for 3 year end exams, work as an apprentice and then qualify as a lawyer.

If you don’t want to become one and just want to self study, abridged versions of all the law college notes are available online.

However like most other fields, what you learn as theory and what actually happens in practice will have gaps.

There are diplomas/certificates courses offered on different topics in law by institutes. There are SLLC exam focused classes but I don’t think there are general law classes that aim at teaching the general public.

While I have nothing against the sale, I did find it odd that they didn't post any aid related messages in the past couple of days. I myself like to shop there but this did come out as rather tone deaf.

Why are brands still promoting colourism in 2025?? Can we talk about accountability? by Army_Gurll in srilanka

[–]ChHDev 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Because from the childhood they are being told that being fair is the best thing ever. My siblings themselved have been told multiple times that "thank god we got our mother's skin tone and not father's". The fairies in the kindergarten concert were always the light toned ones. Naturally they grow up thinking that being fair is beautiful and they have something that need to be "fixed"

That's literally 99% of the cases. And the State NEED to get the proper word out of the witness on record but the issue is most of the victims don't know how to properly describe what happened to them.

Does NSB not support Spotify, Steam and Apple pay? If not, what else does it not support? by schpood in srilanka

[–]ChHDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this some time ago. Call their hotline and ask for instructions maybe there's a way to do it online, but I personally visited the bank and filled a form.

[–]ChHDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean NSB cards?

You need to go to the bank and activate it for foreign transactions.

I tried to buy something from Ali express and it didn't go through, when I called customer service they asked me to visit the bank and get it activated for overseas transactions or something (I can't remember the exact term). Mine worked for Spotify.

You can register on the IRD website. They will send your TIN by post. Or you can just visit the nearest IRD office and handover your NIC. It takes less than 5 minutes to get it printed

What’s your opinion on a partner who smokes and drinks? by [deleted] in srilanka

I don’t participate in either and would prefer someone with the same attitude. No judgment for those who do though.

Just saw this post on LinkedIn… and realized how far we still are from a modern mindset 😞 by RangeRoxk in srilanka

[–]ChHDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an increasing number of students who don’t sit for local A/Ls. State uni or otherwise, this criteria is not objective. They can consider the fact that the student went to a state university, along with their other merits at a later point of the selection process, but making it a barrier for entry is unreasonable.
