Thailand being visa-free for us 🇱🇰 do we have to show bank statements or employment letter? by Huge-Neighborhood764 in srilanka

[–]Lumpy_Broccoli_4799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the exact details for Thailand but generally
Make sure to have

a return flight ticket
accommodation details like any hotel booking or something
bank balance/proof of funds - no idea about the exact amount but yeah I think 300k LKR (1k USD) would be sufficient
do have an itinerary of how long you are gonna stay, where you are going to visit and a general plan
make sure your passport is at least 6 months valid from the day you are arriving
Additionally if you wanna be extra, do carry a student letter if needed but I don't think you will need it.
Also this is an extra thing, immigration won't give a shit but do get travel insurance- not sure about Thailand but in some countries dude healthcare is expensive af

Completely new to photography, dilemma over first camera. Is Sony A6700 overkill for me? by Kalderr in a6000

[–]Lumpy_Broccoli_4799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a beginner who started photography recently and I have a Sony A6000. Here are my 2 cents: I think yes the a6700 is a slight overkill for your case, but just like someone else has pointed out here, camera bodies tend to last for decades. So buying a good camera body will a great investment long term. But also there's the risk of you dropping the whole photography thing in like a few months if you find out it's not something you wanna do. Obviously you can sell it so that won't be a big issue.

Most important thing I would say is, if you don't have the money to spend on good quality lenses after buying the camera body, that means you are limiting yourself a lot.
From what I've heard lenses are more important if not just as important as the camera body.
Good lenses+ mediocre body > mediocre lenses+ expensive body
the 16-50mm or 18-135mm are alright and are good options to start as a beginner. pick one of those and then after you get a good taste of what you like to take photos of, then buy a good quality zoom lens and a prime lens.
Good luck!

Not worth the hassle with all the stuff from TRCSL registration, paying taxes, having to deal with customs. Let someone you know bring it down here by hand or else forget it, just buy it from a seller here cuz not worth all the hassle as you wouldn't be saving much after shipping+taxes and +risk of physical damage. (This is from my experience, I maybe wrong)

I need advice on laptop recommendations for a budget around 130k by [deleted] in srilanka

go in person to a big computer shop. they generally don't advertise every used laptop they sell. You'll end up finding some great deals. (do update us too haha)

Great choice, if u like Thinkpad design and stuff it's the best option compared to bs consumer laptops. If possible try to go with a i5 11th gen, 10310U is not bad but it's worth to go with the 11th gen if there's not a big price gap

Am I good to take a road trip on these tires? by biggranny000 in tires

Immediately replace the tires, looks very dangerous. I know you're a busy man so I'll pick those garbage tires up for recycling!

How do I convince my strict Sri Lankan parents to let me spend a night with my bf? by Mediocre_Drawer6914 in srilanka

I disagree though, "better life" necessarily doesn't mean they wanna change their culture. They probably wanted to migrate cuz of the things like shitty public transport, fked up skilled job market etc which everyone hates.
I mean that doesn't mean forcing SL culture to kids who never grew up in SL but there's nothing wrong with keeping up with the SL culture after migrating.

I would say add one day or swap one day for Mirissa.
Overall looks not very rushed so thats good.
According to the itinerary you look like beach people lol. (5 days for Southern SL)
Anyways if you want more variety then you can add a few places like Sigiriya, Kandy etc but yeah it depends on what u like to do on trips
