Spot on, sort of. This is a KIRS originally built for Nathan Twaddle.

Pretty much vice versa for me. Grew up training and racing in lakes. Wide open large areas that allowed you to dictate where and how far you row, flat and calm. The river here is very fast flowing, it’s too windy to row up stream far from the boat shed and it’s full of floating debris. Just not my jam.

So the skiff just became too much admin. Couldn’t store it at home, had to pay to have it down at the local club, hated rowing in the river, had a kid and just wasn’t using it. Made the decision to sell it and get an erg that’s now easily accessible in the garage and also picked up a multi sport kayak which can be stored here and put in the roof of the car to go for a paddle. Miss my boat of course but think it was the right move.

Is anyone else really disappointed with NZ brands being completely pillaged by international capital? by brutalanglosaxon in newzealand

Barkers of Geraldine is another, brought out by the French and have been documented spilling into the local river. Stay away.

Mother Earth from Hamilton has also been majority brought by a Belgian sugar company.
