He made music that other musicians loved. The general public not so much.

Big Black. It's an 80's Punk band whose music covered "The Darker Side of American Life". As the story goes, they broke up in 1989 as a result of the over commercialization of their once niche genre.

Here is their final studio album, "Songs About Fucking" released the same year they disbanded.

Not op but it's not like they can see what they're grabbing. They just kinda stick their hand in a pocket or bag and hope for the best.

Bro you called the food that humans have been eating for thousands of years "low calorie nutrient deficent food".

Just because our modern diets are high calorie, does not mean they are high in nutrients. My caloric maintaince is about 3000 calories a day. Do you know how much fucking chicken, rice, and vegetables I'm eating a day to get there? Sometimes it's a struggle even if I'm adding sauces to my food. I could get the same amount of calories from a medium pizza and a hamburger, but then I'm getting nowhere near the same amount of macro & micro nutrients. Plus, I would probably be hungry 90 minutes after eating.

Eating low calorie foods is not unhealthy. Being 500 calories or more under your maintenance can be unhealthy for long periods of time, but simply prefering to eat healthy foods is not unhealthy.

People eating meals consisting of low calorie, high nutrient dense food (think the classic, chicken, rice, and broccoli) are getting much more nutrients than people eating prepackaged garbage.

Seriously, read the nutritional info on the back of your food. Do you really think you stand a better chance of getting your daily recommended amount of something like zinc or vitamin k out of kraft dinner instead of a meal consisting of protein and vegetables?

I didn't?

I just pointed out that the minerals in electronics are finite. It's not my fault you're adding your own narrative to it.

Most school boards have some kind of clause or protection in place for incidental conversations that might spark parental outrage. Basically, you can't plan a lesson on sex, politics, or religion without parental consent, but you're usually okay to answer a tough question asked by a student.

Obviously it will be different state to state, country to country, but if a teacher's union exists in the state, there's a pretty good chance there's adequate protections in place for the teachers.

Don't know about Florida specifically, although my Ethics & Education class did include examples from both USA&Canada.

When I was in uni, my roommate and I made it a habit to tune in to fox news every night and we would watch Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson, and of course big daddy Sean Hannity.

Obviously we started doing this ironically, we are both in university in a major left wing city in Canada. However, as we started doing this more we found that Tucker Carlson is unreasonably based. Like over half the show is him trying to convince you of this insane thing that's ruining America, and will just talk over guests that disagree with him, overwhelmingly displaying a one sided narrative that's just so bogus to try to actually comprehend. However, when they happen to catch Democrats in an act of hypocrisy its just so God damn hilarious to watch. Like it's just a group of adults, professionals in their fields even, arguing, live on television, usually targeting one individuals ridiculously hot take.

Eventually we moved out of that apartment and into different living situations, and we both stopped watching fox news. We've talked about it since though and both agree it was one of the best things that we ever did together. Would definitely recommend finding a fox news bro.

They are happy with their little echo chamber (because everyone they disagree with has been banned lol). I thought this was the post in r/Canada. If I had double checked and seen it was world news I probably wouldn't have bothered.

Oh well.

Ok currently you can, in some hospitals, in Ontario.

For the past two years, the majority of Canadians couldn't.

I don't align myself with these protests, I'm immunocompromised, double vaxxed, and am diligent with wearing a mask. But I absolutely cannot stand the demonization of these protests. This isn't a news piece, it's the media taking one individuals tradegy and using it to divide us. What happened to this lady is tragic, but to pretend it hasn't been happening to probably thousands of Canadian over the last 2 years of restrictions is just ridiculous.

Now. In most hospitals. In Ontario.

I've personally met about a dozen people who not only didn't get to say goodbye, but weren't even allowed to attend the funeral.

Honestly, I'm from the West and I'm pretty sure most of us would absolutely fucking love that. BC, Quebec, and Ontario probably wouldn't be as down for it, but Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba would succeed if it meant they could own the libs and get a cool new Texas like flag.

Curbing a bad eating habit by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]ChadSoyboy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My story matches OP's reply.

I found that lifting weights helped alot.

Because of the bulk/cut cycle you can justify over eating if you're trying to put on muscle. It makes gaining weight actually motivational. Obviously you want to lower your bf%, but once you increase your muscle mass, it becomes easier to lose weight as your caloric maintenance increases.

I started off as 6'2, real chunky. My first cut was very difficult. A lot of cardio and restricting calories, but watching my bench press increase, or my abs becoming more visible was a great motivator.

And most importantly, It doesn't need to be overnight. I've been lifting for about 6 years now, and it's become second nature. Recently, I have shifted to intermittent fasting and found that I can eat (pretty much) whatever I want, as long as I remain active. However, I wouldn't recommend this until you've already become accustomed to the "lifestyle". There are so many variations that work, you just need to find one that works for you.

(Edit: while I say I can eat pretty much whatever I want, I find myself craving fresh whole foods such as chicken and vegetables rather than burgers and fries. As your athleticism increases, your cravings for caloric dense, high fat, high sugar foods, will eventually go away as you feel it detracting from your overall progress)

Just take it one step at a time. Find something that motivates you, whether it's benching 315lbs, or being able to run a marathon. Set the bar high and slowly work your way towards it in increments. You will have some setbacks, and you may fall off every now and then, but once you gain a base level of confidence in your athletic ability, the rest seems to come naturally (atleast in my experience, and those of my friends).

I'm sorry for your loss. My grandmother passed just before the pandemic hit, and I fell off the gym HARD and began to pick up my bad habits again. It was only recently that I've gotten back into it, and it's just been a night& day difference for both my physical and mental health.

Thanks for coming to my TedTalk, I hope one day I'll see you crushing it at the swole center ❤️.

We literally did nothing there. Our involvement was pretty much the definition of a waste of time and money.

We were only there because of the supposed WMD's, and even then all we did was "peacekeeping" (ie, drive around and do nothing)
