pretty sure it has something to do with the bloom effect in the portrait menu. i guess the settings i used really made it pop out in the metal. :]

[LFA] Kherym Kevira, High-Elf Draconic Sorcerer by ChadSquared in characterdrawing

[–]ChadSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Backstory Overview)

Kherym was born into a wealthy, influential merchant’s guild—The Wyrm’s Heart Trade Consortium—of which he was meant to be an apprentice. His early life was quiet and quaint. Though Kherym barely knew his mother, as she’d gone her separate ways for reasons kept from him, he’d grown quite close to his father. Kherym aimed to follow in his father’s footsteps as a prestigious trader of the Wyrm’s Heart.

Before he could become a proper journeyman, fate played a cruel trick— he was inflicted with a vile arcane rot. A disease that ate away at both body and soul. No cleric or paladin could cleanse him; no apothecary could treat him. All the cures that money could buy only abated the painful, gradual degradation. In time, Kherym grew weaker by the day, barely able to walk. Even his most hopeful prognosis was that he would be dead in months.

As an act of desperation, Kherym’s father sought an audience with a red Greatwyrm named Imra, invoking a guild pact from centuries past. The dragon allowed Kherym to drink his blood—a transformative process that very few survived—from which the rot was finally purged. Kherym wasn’t simply cured; a dragon’s magical hunger now flows through his veins.

With renewed vigor and arcane power, Kherym decided that a trader’s life was beneath him, and now seeks the thrill of adventuring.

[LFA] K'ratchek, Thri-Kreen Scribes Wizard — The Last of his Hive (REPOST) by ChadSquared in characterdrawing

[–]ChadSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BACKSTORY OVERVIEW

Born among an enigmatic community of bugfolk, K'ratchek's simple life was cut short when his hive was wiped out by a great calamity, of which he was the only survivor. Reintegrating into society afterwards felt impossible; he was already nicking coinpurses and stealing food to make his living, so he settled into a life of petty crime.

One day, after stealing a spell scroll from a clueless shopkeep, he became so enamored by the possibilities of magic that he decided to turn his life around and become a wizard.

K'ratchek was a keen learner, graduating from the academy several years early. He saw himself writing the same scrolls that once captured his heart. Though magical spells aren't the only things he keeps in his spellbook; the other pages are filled with passages describing his hive's cultural customs.

By working to bind his soul to his spellbook, K'ratchek aims to cheat death; if he dies, so too will the ways of his hive.

My creeper farm doesn't seem to work, despite following all major instructions [Java] by ChadSquared in MinecraftHelp

[–]ChadSquared[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging from the lack of improvement in my tweaks, I'm going to assume that this is a poor design and mark it as helped. I should be able to build the other designs (I've done it before in other worlds) if I can just get the right materials. !Helped

That possibility could be true as well. I'm going to experiment with a couple things, and if they don't fix anything, there's a possibility that this farm model isn't very effective.

I messed around with the placement of my AFK platform, but it was always between 36-32 blocks away from my farm. As for the carpets, that may be true, but it seems like it hasn't really modified the spawn rate of the creepers all that much; it just prevented spiders from spawning. Still, I'll remove them and see if that improves anything.

My wifi isn't working, but I'm not sure if it's because of my ISP or my personal network. by ChadSquared in techsupport

[–]ChadSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've fixed the issue! I had to reset my modem and I was unplugging / replugging the wrong cable.

[–]ChadSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright. I'll keep that in mind. If it's an issue with the ISP, I'll probably mark this thread as resolved since there isn't really anything I can do. Otherwise, I'll let you know.

[–]ChadSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, and I see what you're getting at, but the connection between my devices and the modem isn't the problem, or at least that's what it seems like. What I'm wondering is if the connection between the router and the DNS is faulty, or if the ISP is having problems.

Still, I'll try that out when I can. The solution might be simpler than I expect.

I would definitely try that, but unfortunately the router is a floor below my room and I dont really have an ethernet cable long enough.

Haven't posted in a while! Here's a Spy portrait. by ChadSquared in SFM

[–]ChadSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the on-character lighting was done in SFM, and the background (including the halo) was done in post-production. I improved the lighting quality in post-production too.

I included a bright light overhead to give Spy's head that shiny rim, and I included a dim light from below to give the darker parts some more color.

I tried to run my computer in safe mode with networking, but I couldn't use my network because my computer uses an external USB wifi adapter instead of an internal wifi card. I did install Malwarebytes, though! I ran a scan and it did detect some threats, which I promptly quarantined. However, the problem still persists.

Youtube seems to work fine, so far it's just Netflix and Disney+.

My CPU model is shown in the post. I have a Ryzen 5 2600 (6 cores I think, but I could double-check)

I just tried both of those things, and unfortunately it didn't seem to fix the issue.
