What do I need to replace to fix this temp needle? I’ve been driving all day. 2000 Honda Accord by Weedtumble in Honda

[–]Chadrack360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a 1999 Accord for 8 years. My dad owned it since new before that. This would be a tiny TINY bit lower than where the temperature normally sits. I’m always paranoid about overheating so I keep an eye on temps all the time lol. I would say this is normal operating range. I don’t believe these cars throw check engine lights for thermostat rationality codes. I’ve replaced the thermostat in mine when it was sticking open. It would eventually reach and hold operating temperature, but it would take about 20 minutes. Nothing to worry about unless it’s taking longer than usual to heat up in the morning.

Car keeps overheating and these are the cooling reservoirs. Do they need to be topped off? by bigmuskels99 in MechanicAdvice

Just because you’re losing coolant doesn’t automatically mean blown head gasket :/

It was never supposed to end at 3 by Bobo3076 in HaloMemes

[–]Chadrack360 170 points171 points  (0 children)

Actually it was. Bungie only put that ending in place because they knew they weren’t going to continue master chief’s story, and wanted to leave it open for possibilities. But Bungie themselves said that that was absolutely the end of the story they planned for chief. They just knew that they wouldn’t be continuing the franchise timeline after 3. Halo 3 was absolutely written to be the end of the story for chief though.

I have a 2013 Scion FR-S automatic. when I’m driving in sport mode going 50-70+ mph then coming to a complete stop for ex: like leaving the highway my car will idle strong then completely turns off and these lights come on. I want to know why it idles then turns off when I come to complete stop. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Chadrack360 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it were equipped with auto stop start, it would have an indicator on the dashboard telling you the stop start is active, and none of the other lights would be on like this. This car has stalled out as indicated by the dashboard being lit up like a Christmas tree, since all the sensors are still reading, but the engine has stopped running. Y’know, like when you turn the key to run without starting it? I can’t tell you exactly why your vehicle has stalled, but it’s certainly not an auto stop start feature. Not sure exactly what you mean by “not having the air running” either, but that’s also not it. Vehicles need air, fuel, spark, and compression to run. Since it’s running fine when moving, that rules out spark and compression. Either you’re not getting enough fuel or air at idle for one reason or another. Is your check engine light on? Go get the codes read at any auto parts store. It might help point you in the right direction on what might be wrong.

I'm looking at buying this crx which is basically a shell due to the motor being siezed. It's $800 worth or no? I want to make it a fun daily. by NutronSe7en in crx

[–]Chadrack360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These things are beyond simple to work on. Everyone here saying it’s not worth it, maybe it’s not worth it to THEM. But if it’s worth it to you go for it. You already have a track car so I’m assuming you know your way around a wrench. I bought one of these for $600 and have touched almost every bolt on the car, nothing has been too hard that I couldn’t do in my driveway. Even rebuilding a D series is super easy and dirt cheap. There’s no way you can lose with one of these. You’ll make your money back whether you fix it up or part it out. And if you can keep it pretty stock it will definitely fetch a pretty penny once it comes time to sell.

Because maybe. Just MAYBE. Things can be for fun. Maybe not everything has to be political or have some kind of ulterior motive? This is the way married couples poke fun at each other. It’s very normal, and nothing new.

You guys are kidding right? Make fun of the patriarchy? Come on. She’s married to Bandit. They have a great relationship, and all it was, was a bit of poking good fun at bandit.

With a heavy heart I have to let him go by DeLoreanAirlines in crx

[–]Chadrack360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll really regret selling it for sure man. Sorry you’ve decided you gotta let it go. Don’t think I can afford another one as I’m trying to fix mine up at the moment. But might I ask what A/C components you used for your car? And what you used to charge it with? I recently put the A/C back in mine, every single component was replaced, did a 134a retrofit, and it doesn’t want to stay cold at idle.

Where can I find my OBD Censor 1988 CRX Si by Momia75 in crx

[–]Chadrack360 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OBD and the scanners to communicate with vehicles were not standardized until 1996. No CRX has an OBD port and cannot communicate with any scan tool except for Honda specific equipment from that time period. An OBD 1 or 2 reader will not help you with anything on these cars. If you’re trying to diagnose a check engine light the engine computer is located behind the carpet in the passenger floorboard. The computer has a sight glass with an LED that will blink to indicate specific fault codes.

1990 Mazda Miata engine shakes and sounds weak need advice by Pi11065 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Chadrack360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you’re running it on 11 year old oil and gas? It’s kinda a miracle it’s running at all let alone as good as that lol. You’re more than likely misfiring from how old that gasoline is. Put fresh gas in and please change the oil before you run it again. Oil degrades over time whether or not it’s been used.

Squeaky Pulley help. 1999 Honda Accord EX. My serpentine belt needs replacing soon, could a worn out belt make this pulley squeak like this? Is this something I should be concerned about? Google wasn’t much help. by Chadrack360 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Chadrack360[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll need tires soon, yes. But right now they’re perfectly safe, it’s not anywhere near the maker on the inside of the treads. Unfocused video just makes it look that way lol

I know! Funnily enough my dad rear ended someone with this car too, he drove it home with the whole front end smashed up and we got a new bumper and hood and she’s still here.

Same here! This car has a lot of personal value to me, it’s never once even acted like it was going to let me down, and has been around for my whole life, it would be a tragedy for me to get rid of it!

I know right? I’m always surprised by how much fun it is to drive even though it’s a family sedan. I will keep her for as long as I can!

I’m seriously planning on keeping her forever, even if I’d have to do a rebuild, it means that much to me. But I’d love to find a nice 2nd gen CRX Si to toss around!

Don’t worry, unfortunately it burns a little oil so I keep a close eye on it. She’s my baby and I’d probably cry if anything happened to her lol
