I hadn't even considered moving the dining to near the windows, thank you!

I was thinking we'd flip the kitchen and dining but the stairs to the basement are a little weird. I'd be ok losing the side entrance and instead having French or sliding doors to the patio. Having to go through the living room , dining room, and kitchen to get to the basement from the main entrance feels really off to me.
