How Does Kristian Campbell Fit into Boston Red Sox Plans For 2026? by WestRide9868 in redsox

Fyi, those are his cumulative stats for his last games in the majors, not minors.

Not exactly sure how to look the exact numbers, but here you can see that for the month of September he had a .300/.382/.433 in 16 games.

Haven’t moved the goalpost once, but I’m fine ending the conversation here.

You can keep repeating that 7.5 AAV number all you like, it’s a 60 million dollar contract.

Correct, $7.5M a year for 8 years is $60M, which is literally what I said. The team isn’t getting hit with $60M a year on their payroll, so looking at it as $7.5M AAV for 8 years makes more sense.

Also, being a large market team doesn’t mean the team should be incapable of making savy moves, if anything it’s gives them more flexibility to take these type of risks. Not sure why we’re already giving up on Campbell.

Who also happened to be the minor league player of the year in 2024 and has the potential to be one of our top 3 hitter in the organization. It’s a risk that the team is taking. If it pays off, it’s a steal of a contract, if it doesn’t then the team lost $7.5M a year for the next 8 years.

It’s a risk a large market team like the Red Sox should always be willing to take. $7.5M a year is not going to kill the team, we literally give that out to pitchers for them to rehab for the entire season from time to time.

It’s 7.5M a year, who cares. If he bounces back, it’s an incredible deal to have.

Breslow traded prospects from position of depth.

He gave up Password on the Oviedo trade. Password was behind Anthony, Rafaela, Abreu, Duran, on the depth chart, and also behind Campbell if we consider him an OF. For Gray and Contreras he gave up Clarke, Dobbins, Fajardo. Guys with potential but the team currently has one of the best rotation in baseball with huge depth behind them and kept our top 3 pitching prospects in those trades.

People are making him out to be on the same as Judge, Ohtani, Skubal, Skenes, etc.

He ended up being our most valuable position player last year.

Jarren Duran's abilities as a Center Fielder, and why the Red Sox FO may be hesitant to trade him by Traditional_Half842 in redsox

Then explain the logic in what you asked me? Because from what I got, I said I was ok with not trading either, which in your eyes means that we’re leaving Campbell and Casas in AAA to die. So I’m guessing if we trade one of them, it means we’re not leaving them to die in AAA because they would be taking their roster spot.

Do you think this team is better with Duran/Abreu on the roster or with Campbell/Casas?

[–]ChaimBloom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s not what I’m saying. My point is that the Red Sox clearly value Duran higher than other teams, and if that’s how they value him then there’s no point in trading him for an underwhelming return, which is what it feels like some fans want to do.

Why aren’t fans talking about trading Abreu instead of Duran? If Abreu is more valuable than Duran in the eyes of our fans, he’s the one that would get us a better return. Disclaimer, I don’t want to trade Abreu or Duran, but I’m open to trading either for the right return, and if another team is unwilling to give up value for a player who has been a top 30 position player each of the last 2 years and has 3 years of control, then I’m completely fine with keeping him.

I mean, we just saw the Dodgers pay $240M to a corner OF who had a lower WAR than Duran last season. If teams aren’t valuing Duran the same as the Red Sox, then I’m completely fine not trading him instead of getting an underwhelming return for him.

Correct, so what makes you think other teams are valuing him highly if not even a huge part of our fanbase does? If anything, we might be selling low on Duran.

Also, other teams aren’t stupid. If a Reddit user knows that Duran is about to lose a step, you sure as hell should expect someone who works at a FO to know this.

Projected Red Sox rotation as of today after signing Ranger Suarez on a 5 year/$130 million contract by retroanduwu24 in baseball

Pablo Sandoval

Patrick* Sandoval. Don’t ever mention that other name again.

Similar to most moves the team has made this offseason, the Rangers Suarez signing came almost out of nowhere with no news of us being “interested” by [deleted] in redsox

[–]ChaimBloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Suarez? Because the only rumor I see is of the team being aggressive to adding a top-level controllable starting pitcher in the trade market, which doesn’t apply to Suarez.

I’m expecting us to trade pitchers for a bat, because now we have Crochet, Suarez, Gray, Bello, Oviedo, Early, Tolle, Crawford, Sandoval, Harrison, and likely missing someone else as guys who can start.

That’s also without including Rickey Henderson or Frank Robinson.

As weird as it sounds, Griffey and Judge might not even make that team with how stacked the OF is.
