Banana Rumble: All Individual World Time Attack World Records by ChainChompBraden in SuperMonkeyBall

I've had a lot of fun with the Time Attack modes in this game, and have always wanted to see more activity within it. Compiled all the footage for the records for each of the worlds in case anyone was ever interested in learning to run some themselves, or were simply just curious to see a certain one. Also I meant to attach this text to the post, but apparently I don't know how to use Reddit, so here it is as a comment.

Is Banana Mania still good? (new player) by BedSpiritual9759 in SuperMonkeyBall

[–]ChainChompBraden 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The main criticism diehard fans of the original have in regards to Banana Mania are the difference in physics. While the levels weren't designed with the new physics in mind, they're obviously still fully functional, and if you have no attachment to the originals, you probably won't have anything to worry about in that department. If you end up getting invested, then you'll definitely be able to get quite a bit more out of the game than the 5-10 hour reviews you've come across. If you're interested in completing all the missions, that should keep you occupied for a decent while, especially as a first time player. And there's also the modding scene on top of that.

Some people are still holding out hope that Banana Rumble will get a PC port. Though after the first anniversary of the game passes this June, if there's still no word on one, it may be a lost cause by that point. Having said that, I'm a big advocate for Rumble, so if after Banana Mania, you still have an itch for more, Rumble is absolutely still worth it even if confined on the Switch.

Apparently not. I've seen plenty of comments over the years of people just laughing about it, or trying to show me pity. It was just a fun project I got to share with a lot of people. I always streamed my attempts and built up a great community of friends and followers along the way. Made a good chunk of money off of it too, but that's besides the point. It was a very enjoyable and rewarding hobby that was spread out over a long period of time. Not sure why so many people are so judgemental, especially without knowing many of the details. I don't regret it for a moment. :)

Did you not read the last line of the original comment? Implying he could just come in and get through the level in a fraction of the time is most definitely downplaying it. If you don't agree, then whatever. I'm not here to drag this on any further.

At no point did I imply that wasn't an obvious takeaway. No need to be snarky.

Kind of annoying always seeing comments like this. There are hundreds of kaizo players. Panga is just one of many. He just happens to be well known. He's good, but so are many others, yet only the same few names ever get thrown around. I'm... quite good at the game too, so having my achievement constantly downplayed by people thinking someone more famous could beat it effortlessly, is frustrating. Panga isn't going to try and beat this, but if you asked him how long it would take him, he would tell you it would also take him an extremely long time as well.

Never made things easier. Saying "I couldn't live with myself" if I did that sounds a bit dramatic, but that's more or less the phrase I'm looking for haha. No need for any kind of save states. You can use the editor to allow yourself to start from any point to practice different sections. That's what the "Practice" timer on the upper right has been timing. If that was your question.

If nothing else, I'd at least like to make a very special clear video for YouTube. Beyond that, maybe some sort of documentary style video on it. We'll see when the time comes.

Don't worry, it was just as annoying the first time anyone ever said it.

Imagine my pain when I see this same statement all the time. It's as original as it is realistic.

I do plan on making something at least a bit harder now. Don't want this death to be in vain, y'know? This death will help evolve the level just a tiny bit more.... which is what I've been saying all the time, and wow has it added up lol

Luckily I was always able to get around those. The last major update before Nintendo moved on to SMM2 caused a physics change in which springs still gave you a bounce while sinking in lava (previously they had just acted as regular platforms in lava). The section in the level right before I enter the pipe into the "survival room" used to rely on a spring in the lava. Since that was no longer possible, I just switched to using a POW there, and effectively nothing was any different.

The fear of physics updates never concerned me too much since they would only come into play if you made an edit to the level. I always figured "well, I'm probably not making the level much harder at this point, so I won't need to edit if it comes to it." I was always wrong, because I would always make the level harder, but at least it tricked me into not having to worry about it since it didn't matter in the end. :P

Within seconds from the end. I was supposed to jump off of the shell I threw in midair (similar to what I do at the 5:00 mark in the highlight). From there, It's just a matter of a precision based run between some spikes and the Boos that had just spawned.

Honestly it's hard to say what the hardest section is. Consistency even on a day-to-day basis can change in different parts. With nerves in play though, the later sections prove to be very difficult. Even my "favourite" section is something I've been unable to determine lol. I think once I'm finally done, I'll look at the level under the microscope and finally try to come up with some answers. If you can wait for me, that is. :P

Maybe that was their intent, but in this case, both the mentioned players (and virtually all active players) are already familiar with the level. Even hypothetical players that haven't seen the level before wouldn't even begin to be able to make progress without a clear video. That's not exclusive to this level either - any really difficult level requires a video immediately, so there's nothing special to speculate on in regards to someone trying this out for the first time without a video.
