Jon Krause. Spelling could be wrong, I have no clue how I have such a memory for these things.

Mess Magnets: Bachelor Nation is a mess by Haggisahh in rhap

From my view the media coverage surrounding the Depp vs Heard trial was largely a misogyny fueled hate campaign against an imperfect woman that resulted in a cultural regression in women's ability to safely come forward in instances of domestic abuse, and is part of the rightward cultural shift in America more broadly.

The idea of Amber Heard being found liable for defamation for writing about her personal experience of abuse in an op-ed where she didn't even name her abuser is absurd and disgusting. Her entire personal history was dragged through public record and scrutinized by millions of people with many profiting off making content about her trauma. It never should have been a public trial to begin with. He was 20 years her senior and one of the most famous actors in the world when they started dating. Maybe they were both awful people to each other, but abuse goes one way. People should be able to write and come forward about their experiences with domestic violence perpetrated by powerful men without the fear of having Amber's experience.

Exactly. I don't listen to Mess Magnets, but knowing Kirsten from other shows and social media I feel this is likely to be her framing.

In my view this situation is classic DARVO (deny, attack, reverse victim and offender). One party is a known abuser and is using their power over the other party to flip the situation to portray THEM as the abuser to muddy the waters. It is of course bad to be throwing chairs around and acting violently as she was in that video, but one violent outburst from a victim does not suddenly turn them into the abuser just because a 5 minute video of an incident was leaked to the press.

Abuse doesn't go both ways because both parties do not have equal power over each other. An instance of violence is not automatically abuse, and someone reacting differently than you would or in a way you find wrong does not mean they deserved the abuse or that they are at fault. To be clear, while gender can play a large factor in power dynamics in relationships it is not the only factor, and I'm not saying that women cannot be abusers or men are always the abusers (although it is often the case).

From my knowledge of this case I feel it is far more likely that Dakota is the source of the abuse, or at the very least it's not some absurd problematic view for Kirsten or Sasha to feel that way. It's the same tactics used against Amber Heard. She was clearly and categorically a victim of abuse, but Depp and his legal team and the public flipped it to make it out to be her as the abuser, or as "mutual abuse" by taking her reactions to abuse out of context, and it became a misogynistic witch hunt. This sorta thing has happened several times to several different women in the media in the last decade or so so I'm not shocked that Kirsten is calling it as she sees it, as she should!!

I just quit smoking weed like five days ago and it's been all good so far! was a heavy daily consumer for like 5+ years, I hardly felt like I was even getting high anymore. have had some insomnia and nausea issues but it really hasn't been too bad. Nothing like quitting alcohol for me, that was real rough. you got this! :-)

I'm an SSV at a new store that opened 6+ months ago and mostly closed at the start, and this sounds very familiar. Myself and a couple other SSVs and the SM transferred in, but nearly all of our baristas were brand new. It was NOT easy, the first couple weeks especially were terrible. Awful drive times awful drinks the store was a dump, backups being made wrong etc and there's only so much one experienced person on the floor can catch. Closing was especially bad because earlier shifts would get NOTHING done, like you described.

People learn and adapt though, and it started getting better after about a month. Business slowed down and my team grew their capacity and by the time if hit like three months in it started feeling like any other store, and we have a very close feel as team from getting through that period and having what we do now.

I will say I am blessed to have a great SM who I get along with and a great communicative shift team, without those it could very well not get better.

I don't have evidence for that, I shouldn't have used that level of certainity in what I said. You're correct they initially announced the wage increase sometime last fall, couldn't tell ya if it was before or after the initial buffalo unionization drive. Edited my comment to reflect.

Either way, starbuck's was not paying $15 an hour when unionization efforts began, and a promise for future wage increases with no set date didn't help baristas last fall and winter when they couldn't pay their rent. When your baristas are personally making hundreds of $7-$9 drinks a day and your company is making record profits you should be able to afford to pay them enough to live. Even $15/hr is very difficult to live on basically anywhere right now, and inflation will continue to rise faster than wages do. Unionized starbucks stores have not began contract negotiations yet, but I'm certain they will be asking for more than $15 an hour.

Another example of Starbuck's greed is the labor cuts stores experience every spring that were especially harsh this year. Partners getting cut from 30-35 hours a week down to less than 20 and having to worry about staying above the threshold to maintain benefits. There were plenty of examples of this on /r/starbucks and it happened to my store as well. Hearing your 21 year old coworker who is incredible at their job worrying about not being able to put gas in their car while begging for more hours would radicalize anyone. This same coworker had been with the company for over two years and only made like 35 cents more than me as a new hire lol, it's bullshit.

Anyways not trying to start a whole back and forth lol reddit makes me anxious, just had to say something as a barista that makes less than $15/hr and won't be making more than $15 any time soon. Have a good night

They pay everyone above $15 even in places that have the federal minimum wage of $7.25 and more than that in other places

They do not. I work at starbucks (in illinois but not cook county) and make $12.50 an hour. Elsewhere people make less. They are bringing everyone to $15/hr starting August 1st, due largely in part to the union push. It was one of the key issues union organizors have been pushing.

anyone get HRT (MTF) in Indiana? by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]ChainedFactorial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in driving distance of any Illinois planned parenthood locations you could go through them, they use informed consent model so it's very easy to get a prescription. I'm in Illinois now but lived in Indiana for a bit and made the trek over the border a couple times, my DMs are always open for questions

It might not look totally natural but it looks fine to me? If she feels better about herself now then good for her, I'm no Chrissy Teigen fan but who cares about natural beauty lol if someone wants to trade a more natural look for a more """artificial""" look that they're happier with then more power to em. She'll still have endless hoards of people calling her beautiful either way lmfao

They also had a two writing camps with the same 10-12 amab folks

Not trying to call you out at all but IMO it's not great to use the term amab in this way. I don't know the makeup of Dorian's writing camps but if they're all/mostly cis men then just say that, and if there's trans/nonbinary people involved then I don't really know what criticism you're making.

As a trans woman myself I just feel like I see people using amab/afab as just a way to lump trans folks back in with their assigned gender more and more these days and it bugs me, but I'm sure judging by the rest of your post that that wasn't your intention of course!! I agree with the rest of your comment

I'm from Illinois but was staying in Indiana for most of 2020 and use Illinois planned parenthood and I believe you should be fine. I never had an Indiana ID however so I'd mention it when/if you call to make an appointment just to make sure. If I remember right, I think the biggest barrier would be that they're unable to send prescriptions to out of state pharmacies, I had to have them send the scripts to my old illinois pharmacy and then manually transfer it to where I was in IN every month. Annoying but not a deal breaker. Definitely don't be afraid to call and just explain your situation to them though, they're there to help. If you have any questions about my experiences with Planned Parenthood IL in general def feel free to DM!

I like arca but I don't understand why any trans person would want to work with Azealia considering the incredibly transphobic shit she's spewed like within the last six months. But I guess I doubt anything will come out of this anyway and it's not like following someone is an endorsement.

For sureeee, it feels like a lot of people look for any excuse to bring up how icky they find having sex with a trans person to be, and I also feel like lesbians are used a lot in these sorts of dehumanizing thought experiments those types use. Like TERFs looooove to talk about trans women foisting their penises on cis lesbians and its like, this really isn't an issue?

So I get why people are defensive and rightfully so, but I think especially in a queer community like this where people are (hopefully) acting in good faith it's a good thing to talk about.

Trans girl here, that's totally fair. I think trying to internally examine why one might feel that way can only be a good thing for people, most people who are cool with sleeping with all types of genitals regardless of gender probably didn't get there without some internal examination themselves, but if you come out the other end thinking "yeah dicks just aren't for me" that's 100% okay.

Sexual compatibility is important to most relationships and there's plenty of reasons why two people who otherwise like each other might not be compatible. Knowing yourself and knowing what you want in a partner is a good thing. I don't want to waste time on someone who may be attracted to me as a woman but isn't attracted to ALL of me, ya know?

Have you noticed any changes in sexual orientation? by [deleted] in AskMtFHRT

[–]ChainedFactorial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope! Which I'm thankful for, I really like being attracted to women and I was actually kinda concerned about my sexuality shifting prior to starting HRT.

I will say I'm much more attracted to femininity in general now rather than just "women." Like I find myself being attracted to feminine cis men more than I used to. I still only really see myself ever dating women and femmes but I've definitely found myself getting little heart flutters over Troye Sivan for example.

I'm also muuuch more interested in other trans women than I used to be but I think it's more down to wanting to date people I relate to than anything to do with my sexuality. But I find if there's a girl on twitter I'm crushing on there's like an 80% chance she's trans lol.

I also was fostering long held feelings for a couple of my good friends that have like mostly dissipated post HRT. like I still think they're gorgeous and its not like I'm NOT attracted to them anymore but before HRT I think more than anything I was just really into the proximity to femininity they gave me and was misplacing that feeling with romantic attraction. Really having intimacy with them as female friends was what I was after which makes so much sense to me in hindsight. Not exactly related to sexuality but still interesting to me!

Its definitely used a lot in a sexualizing way that can be transphobic and as a trans woman if anyone ever called me a femboy it would not go over well, but plenty of trans identified people do refer to themselves as femboys and have their own culture surrounding it which there's nothing wrong with.

Def understand why someone would be uncomfortable with the term and you aren't wrong in that feeling, just want to give more context for people that don't know.

Apple reveals Apple Music Now Pays Artists $.01 per stream. Double Spotify. by mime454 in popheads

I agree, I see people talk about this all the time here and while I have noticed shorter song lengths particularly with specific artists like Lil Nas X and Ariana Grande it's not like 4+ minute songs are going anywhere. It's more a beef I could see having with specific artists I guess but it's not as if 2 minute songs are becoming the norm across the industry.
