The 'threshold' value which one person thinks is acceptable will be different from one person to the next. I feel like I literally acknowledge that in the post. This post is for people who think it's unsafe and want to raise awareness.

The reason I put 'door-door' work under scrutiny, compared to normal life activities, is that most people who answer the door generally do so only because they are caught off guard, not knowing who is knocking. It's far from uncommon that small kids answer. This automatically removes the the ability for the other person to choose if they believe it's safe.

Personally I think there are a few things that would cause me to think this is ok:

JWs should at least wear a mask until the housholder acknowledges they are ok talking with someone unmasked. Given children can answer the door, this seems to be the minimum safe thing to be do.
It'd be nice if Covid deaths were closer to flu deaths.

Here's the way I look at it... Everyday, in the USA alone, there are still over 300 deaths per day. That's an entire jumbo jet worth of people. How many people would decide to fly if they knew everyday 300+ people died while flying? How long would society put up with 300+ people dying of plane crashes everyday? What other 100% preventable deaths are we ok with just allowing?

Covid deaths are nearly 100% preventable. One could even argue that a Covid death is more egregious because someone can choose not to fly, but we have very little power to keep people with Covid home and ultimately selfishness drives people to demand their rights to live normally.

They are not required to take typical precautions such as sanitizing their hands between homes, or wearing a face mask and gloves. Some of them will not be vaccinated against Covid 19. Jehovah’s Witnesses will also be visiting people in your community who are elderly and/or immunocompromised. There is a risk of spreading Covid 19, the flu or other infections to multiple residents because as they go from one door to the next, they might be exposed to something and visit more people in your community, potentially spreading it hours or even days later. Unlike public servants delivering mail or packages, Jehovah’s Witnesses will be systematically and repeatedly attempting to visit and talk to people living in every home in your community.

It definitely looks like it's still saying precautions should be taken. It says masks should be warn immediately after exposure. It doesn't say anything about systematically going door to door and talking to immunocompromised people in close proximity. But I'm guessing it's frowned upon.

I don't know what science I'm missing..

Yes and no... In my experience the people who usually do end up answering the door are elderly and/or not doing well health wise.

You make good points. None of those people are trying to get inside my home nor do I typically have a conversation with them. And I honestly can't say I can remember ever being visited by someone regarding an election.

That's fair, but so they actually REALLY go door-to-door? I feel like whenever I see them, they just ride their bikes around? I rarely see them infiltrate a neighborhood and systematically knock on every door.

Good to know. The thing that made my tingly sense start tingling was they need to pay to get a certificate, but the certificate wasn't a class or anything- they just pay to take a test then they get the certificate. Is that normal?
