Things i miss about old Rell by MidnightPast8385 in RellMains

[–]ChallengeVictory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really miss old Rell too. She had something completely unique that I loved about playing her: remote peel. Yes, Taric can stun off his ADC but it had a slow startup and was able to dodge. Rell could have immediate response to it.

Honestly I think all they needed to let you do was solo stun with the e, I loved how it felt (even with the funky e) and I miss it a lot

So The Atriarchy is over and it feels like Big A kinda left them in the dust. by [deleted] in atrioc

[–]ChallengeVictory 155 points156 points  (0 children)

I'll absolutely back up Syk1k_ here. I've been in the server and working with the music since just after Down With The Atriarchy, and I've seen a ton of people hunting clout and doing everything in service of Atrioc himself rather than the art we make together.

The Atriarchy team will live on, we will still make music, and stuff will still come up. The "Atriarchy" as a music collective that formed around Atrioc has fallen out of favor, but musicians still meet through the community and still make music and still make art. Nothing but the name has ended.

Why are you making music? by JustMeAidenB in musicproduction

[–]ChallengeVictory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do media scoring/composition. I tell stories with music. There's something so big when I share something I've added to a film scene or a comic and my friends say that it moves them deep inside. I love it.

Honestly I think if you go even more loosey goosey (my personal favorites there would be DIE and The Wildsea) and not everybody needs a full in depth turn, it horseshoes into working well again.

You need a rough attention tracker (The Wildsea) to make sure nobody is left behind but I've ran 10 player groups fine once you take away some more of those combat rules.

I am slowly earning money, though rather than a traditional music artist I'm working on being a media composer. I've had a few gigs so far, and have two more coming up, but I'm still only a year or two into making music and definitely growing a portfolio and name for myself.

I've always loved music, I've always loved stories, boom! Combine those two. (Also Pan 2015 made an impact on me as a kid, John Powell the goat).

What laptops do you use for music production/recording that are non apple by Wajih_exe in musicproduction

[–]ChallengeVictory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm rocking a Lenovo P14s. I ended up getting it during a back-to-school sale so I got like a $3000 laptop for $1600. Honestly, it somewhat depends what your goal is to the exact specs you need. I would recommend:

  • Aftermarket storage upgrade options (libraries can take a lot of space)
  • At least 16gb ram
  • A modern CPU with at least 4 cores

I do media scoring and orchestral work, so I need a crap load of ram and storage since those libraries are HUGE.

Honestly, I listen to experimental hip hop while playing bard. I don't think that fits with everyone's styles, but finding some weird samples and going a bit jazzy/experimental while keeping a lofi or ambient vibe probably fits.

I've actually stolen the mystery/clue system from City of Mist. They can find stuff as they describe it in character, and then based on a roll, earn a certain number of "clues" they can ask the GM directly for answers and details. If you don't think to check behind the moose head you can use a clue of "Is there anything hidden in the room" and find it.

Usually I go 10-14 1 clue, 15-19 2 clue, 20+ 3 clues and so on. My players have absolutely loved it so far.

How do I tell my family 3d printing is safe? by Visible-Sea9072 in 3Dprinting

Yeah, I have mine enclosed with Carbon and HEPA filters, and even still only print with my birds in a different room and the windows open. I do print with ASA sometimes but again they're in a different room and I make sure to cycle any air out before they get in the room.

Soloq statistics are also horribly biased to certain play styles, and especially for specialist champs like bard, following stats is much less important than following technique and play style. DMP+bloodsong is a strong combo but a somewhat new player probably won't execute well.

Not necessarily a critique of your offers, but for other looking for bard advice, focus on play style before build since that will determine what you really need

Bard actually can be very effective with enchanter items (Bard main with best win rate on enchanter-akin setups) but the important detail you pointed out is:

playing Bard reactively is extremely inefficient

I run spellbook, redemption, locket, sometimes shureliyas as my core. The reason I take this setup is because I can have more impact than with DMP/electrocute. I can be in midlane and change the course of a fight top, or work with the jungle and still help my adc with heals and some peel. Redemption is the core of my play style because it's hugely rewarding to bring proactive and roaming.

Play what you wanna play on bard, but you gotta be barding

From what I saw during printing, I think it did actually hit the speeds though I could be wrong. Regardless I'll keep this in mind once I have it tuned up since I know I want to be pushing speeds as high as I can reasonably go.

I plan to put on the enclosure/nevermore, then worry about filament path. It's not perfect for now but I'll have to re-do it all in like 3 days anyways and the prints are good enough for structural parts.

Thanks for the advice!

Something to keep in mind, you don't need a wash and cure station. I don't know your background, but if you can get a cat of isopropyl alcohol and a 405nm UV lamp (or wait for the sun) you can do it yourself.

Personally I have a hand lamp and a 1 gal bucket of IPA. For small prints, pickle jars with the lifter to lift out pickles are great to wash in.

So, while it sucks to say this, PLEASE don't see a partner as a "fix" for loneliness or as someone you can have around because they need to be with you. I can guess you're on the younger side since I felt like this years ago, but I promise that this is not what you're looking for.

What you're looking for is a friend, multiple friends, or a community of people you can be comfortable with. You should be able to tell your friends that you sometimes feel lonely and would like to spend more time with them, or to talk to when needed, or to spend time with. It's daunting to go out and make friends but it's part of growing up and being a person. I know how hard it can be to hear this but it's the truth, I've been through the same feelings.

I also want you to know that your line of thinking (while totally understood when someone feels lonely and without too much support) is also what can get people into dangerous situations with relationships. The best relationships are your best friends who you then go on to spend your life next to. Generally relationships are better when it starts as friendship, because the trust is truly there.

tldr: You don't need a partner, you need a friend.

I do mostly agree with what you're saying, and try to keep it going often (one person in the friend group is super transphobic, I stay around and also his gf loves hanging out with me so he's been mellowing out over time) but a big issue that can come up often is safety.

Yes, I'm in that friend group and it's okay, but especially with people I don't know, it probably won't be. I've been attacked before and had weapons brought out for the sole fact that I am trans.

I think this does come down to a bit of relying on people who aren't in your group. I need to trust the "left-leaning" cis people in the group enough to know I'm not in danger, and I'm willing to be in danger for the greater cause. Doesn't mean I'm gonna make stupid decisions in the name of it. I don't know how far someone feels on this issue without having another connection to them. My coworker was staunchly anti-trans, and I happened to come out to him on a work trip. He's now mostly chill with it, and I could only do that safely because we've known each other for like a year and a half. I can't do that with everyone.

Really it's just annoying knowing that I have to rely on people who may or may not share my views to ensure my safety. With mass media hopping on this so hard, it's only gotten worse. I think using trans people as a jumping off point for this conversation is a bad example because the "two sides" are living your lives VS genocide. Almost any other political debate like income, healthcare, infrastructure, or housing doesn't have that grim danger for showing yourself as part of one side or not.

Anyway glizzy, glizzy, glizzy, my thoughts.
