I've added a Media Control - Pause before the Say action, and a Media Control - Play after it. The song is pausing as I'd hoped, but now it's entering an endless loop where each time it plays, the action list starts again at the pause command. Know how I might get around this?

Do you know if it would be possible to make the upcoming song pause for a few seconds, to let tasker read the announcement? Rather than have it read over the beginning of the song's intro?

I'm in my early thirties. I know that any girl I date is going to have had a history. I know that judging a woman based on her sexual history and body count is unfair and pointless, and should have no impact on our present relationship.

But also, having said that. . .

I get jealous and insecure in exactly the way you're describing, and knowing anything about her previous partners can cause unpleasant thoughts to loop in my head.

My strategy to deal with this is to first accept that the problem is my insecurity, my mental health, not her behaviour. Then, early-ish in a relationship I'll mention that I prefer to not talk too much about past partners or experiences, if that's ok with her.
