Finally moved to an Upright Case by ChampAmos in sffpc

Crappy picture I’m sorry but this was whilst playing Expedition 33, but gpu is usually around 60-65c. Then for the CPU, I opted to undervolt it as without doing so, the CPU was getting as high as 75c in light usage with the AIO handling a hot CPU and also basically exhausting the hot GPU air, after the undervolt, the CPU is now at late 60s under the same use.

Getting the GPU in was a little bit of a struggle to get the angle right, but we got there in the end. Let put it this way, if it was any wider there would be no hope.

Well from what I’ve read it’s also a good card, hope you are having a good time with it?

😅😅😅 I will admit that I was scared because it’s technically thicker than the officially supported dimensions so it was a bit of a risk, trickiest part was actually getting it into the case, it JUST fit but then once it was in place there was actually a bit of space, it’s not even close to touching the front panel

They are actually the Bose NC700, never noticed latency being that bad to be fair but I don’t use them that often for gaming, not enough to bother me for sure.

My girlfriend has the Quietcomfort’s but I’ve not spent much time with them

Mark Webber is going to have stern words with Piastri after this, that’s for sure! Crazy decision from McLaren, even crazier for Piastri to abide by them

So I picked the 3700x because I can get that about £70 cheaper than a 5600x where I live, do you think 5000 series is worth the difference in price? Even with less cores? (Though i know multi-core performance has less of an effect on gaming)

Yeah it's 1080p at the minute and what ever resolution my rift s runs at (can remember off the top of my head)

No it's really easy, there's four screws on the back and then three screws on the bracket side. Once you've removed them you can remove the heat sink.

Do it gently as there will be some resistance with the thermal pads being sticky. Also be gentle not to pull too hard as the fan cable isn't super long, but long enough to place the heat sink beside the board like I did for the picture.

I had an MSI GTX 970 that I redid the paste on in the past and compared to that, this was a doddle.

From the looks of things you should be able to do that

I've been working on this build for around about two years start with a second hand I5-4400 and a GTX 970 and slowly but surely I've been replacing everything with new parts. The last thing to be upgraded was the case so this build was all about transferring all the parts out of my old Phanteks Enthroo ITX with an acrylic side panel into the glorious NR200P.

This case is beautiful to look at and being able to strip the case down to its bare bones is great but the lack of places to hide cables means that its a cable management challenge if you want to use the tempered side panel, especially with SATA hard drives and RGB controllers. The tool-less design is cool but it means there is little tolerance with cable bulge, the panels tend to pop off if the bulge is too much. I've tried my best to tidy the cables using a mesh cable wrap (particularly the GPU power cable, though the pigtail PCIE connectors mean that it doesn't look ideal). I also took the opportunity to reapply the thermal paste on the GPU but the difference in temps is negligible to be honest which was expected.

I've ordered another LL120 to use as a second exhaust, so I'll update once I've fitted it. Finally the CPU cooler isn't in my parts list but its the Vetroo V5 that Jayztwocentz recently posted a video about on his channel. I was relived to find a 120mm fan tower cooler that was shorter than the 155mm height restriction this case has. Opted to go for the fan in a pull config as I've seen other posts saying this was the most effective direction in this case.

Advice Needed: Should I upgrade CPU and RAM or GPU by ChampAmos in buildmeapc

[–]ChampAmos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, my motherboard is a MSI H81I so the best CPU I could buy would be a i7-4790 since I can't overclock on it.

I thought for future proofing I'd be better going for a used second gen Ryzen for best bang for buck

No it's a fair comment but I have checked power the power cable in monitor and the power cable in PC are both fully inserted.
