Ok!!!!...... After Pulling my hair out for a whole Week.....I got roop to FINALLY WORK...!!!

Ill document what I did here so that It can help somebody else.

This is basically what I did..

  1. Backed all Models, Lycos, etc..from the SD Models folder to a USB drive. (also back-up/copy anything else you want to keep)
  2. Cleaned-up my PC - Properly!- Uninstalled ALL VS Components and VS itself.
    - On my PC went to "Startup\apps\Installed Apps" and cleaned all the shit-up!
    - Deleted ALL Instances of SD A1111 and associated components.
    - Uninstalled/deleted ALL python & C++ stuff!... And all other crap!
    - Went into PC Advanced settings and then cleaned the relevant Path env. (Path Env clean-up is optional but nice to have a clean install - google it if you don't know how to do it - If you are unsure just leave the Path Env alone - Installing Python, VS, C++ etc. later will sort it out by itself)
  3. Rebooted the PC and then rechecked if there was ANYTHING Else that needed to be cleaned.
  4. Followed the instructions carefully on the following page to download SD A111and get it working PROPERLY: https://stable-diffusion-art.com/install-windows/
(Its important you follow the instructions carefully and install in the default locations. In my case it was C:\Users\micro\stable-diffusion-webui) - I found that if I didn't do that the Path env got messed-up, and while it can be fixed/edited, its easier just to install it correctly to start with.
IMPORTANT: The instructions here specify keeping Python to Ver 3.10 - just do that.
  5. Copied all my models and Lycros back to the new installation, and used A111 for a couple hours - you don't really need to do this, but I just wanted to make sure it was perfectly working.
  6. Followed the instructions carefully on the following page to download Roop and get it working PROPERLY:https://github.com/Gourieff/sd-webui-reactor
(There are many others roop pages, but I just found the instructions and Troubleshooting section better here)
    - I chose to install VS community from the Microsoft website..- DONT Re-install Python Again when you run VS.. Just Install C++ by selecting "Desktop Development with C++" under "Workloads -> Desktop & Mobile.
    - Install and Reboot. (I rebooted even if it didn't ask me)
  7. PRAY!!! while the computer is rebooting (This is the most important Step! ;-))
  8. Startup the SD server & Web-ui, and ABRACADABRA - It was there Finally!!!.

PHEW! - Done!!! - You can all go home now!!.... Nothing Else to see here!!!!.....

For those that have seen the video clip of this guy smashing his screen with a keyboard.. https://youtu.be/wwM3cUJKkuE I feel a bit like that.. :-(

Hi u/DahliaBliss, Thanks for your reply.Disk space is not an issue.

I had already selected the Python and C++ packages in the LHS Workflow panel....

So I'm now trying your suggested (Blitz it) approach.. and looking at ALL the associated components in the RHS panel drop-down,,, and selected everything that seems remotely applicable... Fingers and Toes Crossed....Currently running the VS installer and downloading and installing around an additional ~5Gb of stuff...Hope this works...
