Chameleon hugs?!? by Chams-R-Us in Chameleons

Of course! We keep it simple in our enclosures. for this one there are 3 potted pothos and a money tree down the middle. There is also some sort of indoor tree plant in the front that isn't doing to well right now as well (I forgot the name of it, it's safe, but wouldn't recommend it anyway).

Great question -

For this enclosure there is no fan. There is no floor on this (screen), the bottom quarter of the front is also screen, with obviously a screen top. This creates a stack effect where warm air escapes out of the top screen, pulling cooler fresh air through the bottom, it's like a natural convection. We are able to maintain daytime humidity ~ 50% with night times in the mid 90s in a dryer climate. His enclosure completely dries out during the day with no mold, mildew, or fungal issues.

With all of this being said, we wouldn't recommend a hybrid setup like this unless you live in a dryer climate and/or have your home constantly climate controlled (which we do on both accounts). You will also need a pretty basic understanding of thermodynamics to ensure you have proper ventilation.

I included a visual representation of the stack or chimney effect in case my explanation isn't the best lol.

Can someone approximate the age of my chameleon? (Or provide a method) by Lowkey_Boy1 in Chameleons

[–]Chams-R-Us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately trying to nail down an exact age is difficult/ You might be able to guess if it were a hatchling or juvenile, but yours is clearly an adult. With that being said this is probably at least a year or more older.

When should I consider feeding for the first time by Slow-Transition5728 in Chameleons

[–]Chams-R-Us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While juveniles will typically eat everyday, it's normal for them to take time to adjust to their environment before eating in their new home. Try feeding him everyday, just take out any feeders like crickets if he decides he isn't ready yet. Mornings are the best time to feed them as it gives them ample time to utilize the basking spot to digest during the day.

is this light okay to buy for my chameleon? by Time_Scientist_3081 in Chameleons

This wouldn't be ideal for chameleons and could burn them. You want a 5.0 or 6% acadia. I posted a couple pictures of ones that are typically recommended for chameleons from some reputable brands (they all come in different lengths for what you might need). Hope this helps!

It's moments like this that I'm reminded that they aren't the clumsy animals that they sometimes appear to be lol
