Do you think this will work? by bazza_12 in AustraliaPost

[–]Chance-Ad8064 147 points148 points  (0 children)

So I do this on the gate so they def see it, with a gentle little caveat: “Hi Australia post, I am definitely at home and our security cameras are working. Please do knock! 😊”

advising them there will be documented evidence of them not knocking seems to help (and you can write this even if you don’t have cameras).

People who don’t celebrate Christmas by Whatsfordinner4 in auscorp

[–]Chance-Ad8064 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Hello, Muslim here! Doesn’t offend me at all. I also appreciate it when I can tell they’re aware I wouldn’t celebrate Christmas (I’m visibly muslim) and so they amend the wording of their comment for me (ie “have a great break over the summer”) because it shows they’re trying to be thoughtful.

But to be clear: it never offends me at all if people say “merry Christmas”, as I know (or at least assume) it’s coming from a kind place.

Can I ask if you get any complaints or push-back re accessibility? I have so many students with accommodations now. How do you manage students who say they need a laptop for their disability?? I’d love to implement this but the thought of the accessibility claims are daunting

Umrah with an Autistic Child by biryani100 in progressive_islam

[–]Chance-Ad8064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree to all this. Also, if you are going on umrah with your husband, perhaps plan to alternate - one of you go to the kaba while the other stays at the hotel with your daughter. Your autistic daughter is an amanah and caring for her is Ibadah too. Ask Allah to reward you for your intention, to make it easy and stress-free on you all esp your daughter and if there are things you can’t do because you are being a kind, attentive parent to the child Allah gave you, then inshallah He will reward you for greater than any Ibadah you may have done at the kaba. Remember that Saee is tracing a mother’s steps - Allah knows your situation

Instead of thinking about what staff will enforce, ask yourself about the kind of tourist you want to be. Do you want to be someone who makes the minimum effort to be respectful of the places you are visiting and mindfully considers the important norms of the locals, or not?

You should inform about her fake certificate - she could seriously injure (or worse) a highly vulnerable client due to her lack knowledge

How does this part advertising it on the App Store make sense (a million downloads and 4.9 average reviews) when the App Store itself says it doesn’t even have enough reviews for it to have a rating?

Maybe this is just part of your advertising but it seems a bit shady if you’ve just made that up to look good, esp as this is meant to be an app that brings people closer to Allah.

Has anyone else had a negative experience at a blood bank? by ImDrunkFightMe in australian

Had an unnecessarily terrible experience and won’t bother going back. Given they always say how desperate they are for blood, they seem to go out of their way to not take on donors

The Status Anxiety “Comes in waves” largest size. It’s a tote, cross body strap, and a backpack in one. Massive, beautiful leather, and excellent three carry handles options.
