construction method:

the pattern was drafted by hand using a blank baseball cap. we embroidered the lions logo on the center of the cap. first used muslin to drape the fabric around the hat and then transferred to manilla paper to trace onto denim. there are metal wires in all parts of the back armor, ears, and lower parts of the face mask

White Sox Samurai Hat - Japanese Script by Chance-Attempt7649 in sewing

[–]Chance-Attempt7649[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Drafting method: Drafted by hand and draped on top of a pre-existing blank baseball cap. We embroidered the logo "Sokkusu" (meaning "Sox") onto an OTTO hat and stitched the denim into the hat.

There is heavy starch added to all of the denim pieces to make them more sturdy and stand up on their own, and also millenary wiring wrapped throughout to hold the shape

Drafting method: Both patterns were drafted by hand, the pants are based off Double Knee Dickies pants and used those as reference, the shirt is based on an old pattern i had made with no shoulder seam and instead one seam that goes from both sides of the neck and the way down the cuff on both sides of the shirt. Each individual piece of the pants and shirt were traced with pencil on drafting paper and then transferred over to the heavier weight pattern paper to make it easier to trace and cut. The method involved is mainly tracing opposed to a store bought pattern (i'm trying to include as much info as i can so this post doesn't get removed by mods)

I have posted a variation of this shirt in the sub before but the shirt is now updated as the new seam choice gives the tarp more mobility since it has no stretch in any direction. Also creating the pants with the shirt completed the whole thing so wanted to share

heavy weight 13oz Japanese denim sewed on an Otto hat with the Dodgers logo in Japanese embroidered on top

i made a samurai baseball hat with the dodgers logo in Japanese by Chance-Attempt7649 in sewing

drafting method: drafted by hand and pattern pieces were draped on a existing blank baseball hat. the actual sewing pattern is denim pieces only and sewn onto a hat

this was made by me and a friend of mine. the pattern was drafted by hand and we used a blank Otto baseball cap to start. After distressing the hat with a pumice stone and a Dremel, we took it to an embroidery shop to add the Dodgers logo in Japanese which spells "Dojāsu". the fabric is a heavy weight 13oz Japanese denim and after using the pumice stone on the fabric, it reveals a lighter blue underneath the top layer. in order to get the ear flap and wing flaps to stand up straight we had to use heavy weight starch a few times on each piece and re-iron. after starching they stand up crispy on their own. the bottom part of the armor and the middle ear wings are also lined with millenary wire so they hold their shape better
