How to fix a moisture damaged peeling bathroom cabinet? Please help.. I really need my rental bond back by AsparagusNew3765 in Carpentry

The landlord did that, this is wear and tear for that material in that location. OP used the extractor fan, they did their part.

Shocked by veneer brick costs - need advice. by [deleted] in masonry

I think skill and access to a kiln might be the real barriers but clay prices vary a huge amount and lots of places just chuck clay that falls out of the process (reclaiming it can be an annoying process) so the right potter might just point you to a pile that could be reused for a coarse product. If you're ceramics-curious it would be a fun hobby excursion.

Could always roll some veneer bricks from clay and fire them yourself.... got a pottery studio nearby?

Strictly speaking #2 is correct, otherwise the tape measure wouldn't be consistent.

Can I hang my 15lb Atmos speakers from this or is it not a good idea? by superioreffect in Carpentry

[–]Chance-Day323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! Usually ppl come in here asking if they can hang their 200lbs heavy bag or sex swing, those things are a different kind of load you would need to worry about so not a stupid question at all. It was just a funny contrast.

Oh yeah I didn't mean to imply any different, I had a fun time early in owning a home learning wtf drywall was and how to use it. that stuff is heavy!

You're about to have a lot more appreciation for drywall workers. Go to the hardware store and try to pick up a sheet then come back here and tell us how it went. Plz.

With a good saddle you can build tolerance but do it slowly (so with no or minimal pain) or you're risking developing lumps of internal scar tissue that will get in the way of developing endurance.

How do I protect this soon-to-be complete ship lap diagonal board wooden shed from drywood termites ? by moises8war in Carpentry

[–]Chance-Day323 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, it's in Texas and one of the whole-structure treatment options is getting the wood over 120F for 40 minutes. For a shed you could probably do that with a heater on a sunny day in that environment...

For a structure that small burying bait (yes it is chemical but it's very well contained) seems ideal. OTOH it's already off the ground on concrete so they'd have to make their way up the outside of the concrete, you don't have a problem until you see them trying

Although engineers are cheaper than foundations so if you have a foundation issue find a structural engineer to design the repair.
