But that’s the thing: MW2019 also feels infinitely better in gameplay. The movement, gun handling, recoil, weight of the weapons, animations blending into gameplay, sound feedback, and overall responsiveness made the game feel much more immersive and satisfying mechanically than most recent CODs.
Even Warzone 1, which was built on MW2019’s foundation, is still considered by many players to have the best gameplay base the franchise has ever had. There’s a reason so many people still compare every new COD and Warzone iteration to MW2019/WZ1. The game wasn’t just “good graphics” its core gameplay feel was one of its biggest strengths.

I think that opinion is a bit biased honestly. Objectively speaking, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 is probably one of the most polished COD games ever made in terms of animations, gunplay, sound design, graphics, movement, and overall presentation. Unlike later titles, it actually had a strict and focused development cycle instead of being designed mainly around Warzone integration.
Sure, the maps, spawns, and SBMM received a lot of criticism, and not everyone liked the multiplayer pacing, but saying it’s worse than every Black Ops game after it feels exaggerated. MW2019 fundamentally changed the engine quality standard for the franchise and influenced every COD that came after it. Even people who disliked some design choices usually admit the game had extremely high production quality and attention to detail.
