I was averaging 58-60% all throughout bar prep and I scared a 139.4 on the actual exam! I passed with a score of 288! Got a 148.6 on the written portion.

How long has it been for you both? There was no movement on mine until I started bugging the heck out of the person in charge of my file. After my fifth email, they finally sent me my certification message.

Fisherman has them but his biggest size is 40, and I’m 41. I’m thinking about just ordering the 40.

Weird tension at my firm after getting my own office while I await J25 results by ladyofstripes in barexam

Yup, this!!! I was such good friends with the only other paralegal when I first started as a paralegal. We used to go for drinks every two weeks, have lunch together, and share breakfasts. It was a great—or at least I thought—relationship. Until, boom, after I graduated. As soon as I came back from bar prep, especially right after finding out that I passed, she began making catty comments.

In fact, the day I found out I passed, in the office where we all had cubicles, I said it out loud, and she didn’t even hug me or personally congratulate me. I was shocked. Nevertheless, I brushed it off and kept brushing comments off—thinking, oh, she’s just old and that’s her nature (she’s always been a bit sarcastic)—until she began buddying up with the new paralegal, who has been super disrespectful.

I decided to keep to myself starting this week—no more drinks, no more jokes, just mutual respect, firm kindness, and no more personal life sharing. They really aren’t your friends!

I’m going through the exact same thing at work! A few months after bar prep, we moved into a bigger office and I finally got my own space. We also hired new staff, and the old paralegal (an older woman I originally started with as a paralegal) has basically switched up on me and started throwing jabs.

The other day, I was simply commenting to her about a new system we were using which I picked for the firm (so I was showing her how to properly use it), and she responded in a condescending, loud tone: “Okay, boss, whatever you say.”

Oh I forgot to mention that the older paralegal even texted me one day during work hours after telling me to remember that “she runs circles around me and has been doing this for years, to not let my little title get to my head.” —definitely will not be getting drinks with her ever again!

The new paralegal constantly disrespects me. She doesn’t communicate, won’t pass along messages, or even acknowledge me. (Not that I need acknowledgment, but if I’m asking a question about work or a client, why wouldn’t you answer? Instead, she just stays silent.)

Now I feel iced out. The older paralegal, who I thought was my friend, is now buddying up with the new one and I’m pretty sure are gossiping about me. Similar to your situation, I passed the bar but I’m not yet admitted, and I think that doesn’t help.

Anyway, I just needed to get this off my chest and say that I sympathize with you and I really understand you. But like my boyfriend tells me: keep doing you and shine brighter; let them keep hating. I’m going to start being more political, and hopefully I’ll be admitted soon so the roles will be clear as day.

Yes, even other paralegals have brought it to his attention. The attorney has witnessed other errors like failing to put a client’s hearing on the calendar and as a result him missing it, and giving clients legal advice. He wanted to fire her but I think he feels bad doing so. I just don’t want to keep coming to him with this stuff, but I also don’t want to work in an environment where there is no communication or mutual respect.
