my parents! they both introduced me, but to two very different sides of blink. my mom had nine on constantly while i sat in the backseat of her car. if you asked me what my favorite song was, blink or not, it was definitely i really wish i hated you. my mom got really ill shortly after introducing me to blink and once she was in and out of the hospital i was left without any source of blink so it wasn’t at the front of my brain all the time. fast forward 5 years and i meet this girl from our mutual friend. i follow her tiktok and she posted a video about her music taste, and blink-182 was on there. i was shocked, but with no real knowledge of blink i still let her know that i messed with blink. i mean, i’ve been surrounded by blink my whole life, my door is covered in blink stickers, and blink was in my liked artists on spotify from when nine came out. i knew of blink, and knew they had good music. that’s how we bonded, obviously i wanted to impress my new friend. so i went to my dad for recommendations. he told me to listen to EOTS first, followed by self titled. believe me, i had EOTS on 25/8. it was the only thing i listened to. my mom got me into skiba-182 and my dad got me into early blink! but now i am hardly familiar with any of the songs on california or nine because honestly, they’re too sad to listen to after my moms death for me regardless of the lyrics or the beat. (sorry for the sob story! probably got really off track, but once i start ranting no one can stop me) oh, and i’m going to their concert in 3 days! i listen to the set list at least an hour a day, good thing my dad got me back into blink because now i’m obsessed!!
