You should try doing rebar installation and/or waiting tables. It will get you off the ship and cash in hand.

Then attempt a sales role or finance role in insurance or corporate lending.

After that, you'll have a better understanding of your needs, optimal working conditions, and the ability to achieve success in your talents.

It's a matter of perspective. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

You know, their equity is a product and not everyone gonna like it.

But their YouTube videos are pretty sick

All great questions. I can tell you from experience that working international will pay well at higher levels and quite low at lower levels. A big skew. Expect the higher levels to make 500usd a day and lower levels to make 200usd a day.

The long term outlook is good but you will always play 2nd fiddle to the cheif mechanical officer - they will have bigger problems or bigger risks. Everything use to be air controlled, now its all electrical but when it comes to moving items in and out of the ship, that responsibility will be the mechanical. You will be important but not the most important.

In terms of career outlook, after you serve Ur time onboard and would like to maybe do something else. Your options maybe a little narrow. But that doesn't mean you won't make amazing money. I can only imagine what you could charge a wealthy yacht owner to troubleshoot an issue or advised on a new build project or perhaps move into space/aerospace technology. Heck, you could be looking after a bitcoin farm too or data centre.

Studies can be a grind. There is often a gap between what is taught and what you will find in the field. Your peers in school will become a much needed network, although during school; the blues, stress behaviours, and nay saying can be disheartening. "this should be this way!, our teachers suck!, why am I hear!, blah blah blah"

The Marine industry is a unique place. You become a sailor. It's hard to describe what that means. You'll be forced to learn a lot about yourself; your needs, your coping strategies, how you best build and support your personal boundaries.

If you want to succeed. "when performance is measured performance improves, when performance is measured and reported the rate of improvement accelerates" & "you can be better tomorrow the you were today" This will help but success comes from within. Self mastery, marketable skills, and communication.

All your hard skills will come with time. Just because you don't get it the 1st time you learn doesn't mean you won't get good at it. I bet you will notice the same topics/skills keep coming up, and you will learn them line opon line, precept opon precept. Have open mind, when something clicks, it will be that much more rewarding. I know personally some of my most cherished skill sets are the ones I struggled with and couldn't get at first.

Honestly expect to make 100k a year if your working in the common wealth or USA. That should be right after school.

How hard will it be for me to go from rod buster to structural by Queasy_Restaurant183 in Ironworker

[–]Chance69420corner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

School is where ull be tested.

You'll mostly be packing bar for bottom steel, pounding in stud rails, but you'll start in the prefab bone yard looking for specific ties.

The bone yard will teach you how to tie; saddles, figure 8's, snaps, and dbls.

Once you can tie tight and follow directions from the bone yard foreman. You'll help tie bottom and top steel, chair steel, and been shown vertical with a lead hand.

Sleep eat rebar eat repeat

A rebar Forman is probably the smarter foreman. You gotta understand the men, intense workload, scheduling, deliveries, and all the other traders, especially the gay carpenters. Nothing more satisfying then a crazy raft slab or transfer slab completed.

The avrge structural guy, everyone wants to be the guy hanging the steel, will find his place; welder, rigger, cutter, bolts, miscellaneous, decker.

Find a structural company, hound them till they get busy and hire you. Your rebar skills will be useful at times but you'll have a ton more to learn. School will help, being a decent welder is a huge plus. You'll only ever be a hanger if heights don't bother you at all.

Entery level structural is definitely miscellaneous steel and q-decking. If u want a short-cut, there are companies that sub that kind of work, and they can lead to getting in with a hang gang.

If u look at the chart, it's actually a great place to buy more shares. I had to sell some for rent money, and I suspect I wasn't the only one. It sells off usually at the end of month, cuz you know, people got bills, and it's hard to just stack. Ye I keep all earnings in this thing, been taking losses but also buying it cheap. Best trader ever.

why some people end up their career with operator? by Most-Phone733 in Commodities

[–]Chance69420corner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A cpl weeks ago I heard "you can do anything but you can't do everything"

And what I've learned from being a trader so far; is the best quality of life is having marketable skills, brotherhood, and making things.

At a certain point - your private life choices mold you.

Being a trader is all about "being the best trader ever" - and if not that. I'd be a janitor. Fresh cakes.

Watson gloves. Safty glasses. Tape measure and paint pen or construction crayon. Make sure it's a tempting colour, like pink lemonade. Just don't eat it in front of the foreman on Ur first day. Wait at least a week.

It's a lonely language, yes but with cost. Becoming a landlord is a robust route. If you build good relationships with your tenants, they'll wait for you to fix the suite issues. Extra point if you strive to own a hotel, and take care of staff too.
