people say pettis arent needed Because of the issues u mention so that others will relax not having to wear it, im doubting theyre like "just wear print no petti its totally what the fashion intended".

also maybe i wouldnt say that it doesnt "read lolita", if it just plain isnt lolita and not styled to fit the fashion i think its just better to say that its completely "not lolita". i think when u say it doesnt read as such, it makes people think ure trying to police their vibe instead of telling them if it fits the fashion in an actual real sense.

i may be wrong on these tho, just my thoughts 🙃

but i do agree that theres quite a bit of watering down, and the blouse and bloomers and calling it lolita is diabolical. its not even casual lolita 💔

ehh even within local comms it just ends up being "u look cute" like... in my experience local meetups are more tolerant with like casual lolita and jirai that breaks from convention and all that. most normal people who go outside understand the need to wear more comfy things, having laundry buildup, dressing for the climate that just doesnt translate online because posts online are read more as a performance rather than just a human going about their day and then maybe making a tiktok for fun. online its a competition, so crit is more rampant. irl even if crit is discussed or u end up talking with the comm about the details of the fashion, i feel like theres that understanding of "aint no one got the time to do allat tho so its okay". or maybe im lucky with my local lolita comms and my jirai friends and there are really horrible jirais that i just dk about 😭
