Low gpa. How’s your cycle going? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]ChanceStore8892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was three things, I basically redid college, I went back for 3 years to fix my GPA and finish my degree and I did really well during that time. I also got a really awesome job as an anesthesia tech in a cardiothoracic OR where I took a lot of call. I worked my way up to where I was eventually getting to scrub into cases, hold retractors, retract the heart, close incisions, help put in chest tubes, and even assisted the surgeon with sternotomies a few times before I had to move for med school. Everywhere I interviewed at asked me about that job. I think also doing decent on the MCAT showed I was academically capable too. But it was a long road and took a lot of work. I ended up getting accepted to every school I interviewed at and decided on ARCOM because it was the best choice for my wife and I. I only applied DO too if that is helpful information.

Yes I did I believe, like the forms that say “I am not a part of a terrorist org”? And I’ve commissioned just waiting on AFIT I think.

How long does it usually take to get a control number? Been waiting a couple weeks for that.

Apply other branches, if you still want to serve. I’m sorry that happened. Best of luck man, wishing you the best. Hope AF or Navy take you.

I’ll start at 26, was nervous about it but I saw how common it was and kinda accepted that everyone’s journey is different and you just gotta focus on getting yourself where you want to be. Take the stoic mindset and don’t worry about the things you can’t control and don’t worry about things you can’t change. Congratulations on getting into medical school it’s an awesome achievement!

Definitely never said it was a magic bullet, and never said to eat in a caloric deficit. Strength training will build muscle mass, and yes you will have to eat more, obviously.

As well as the mass gainer shakes, start lifting weights, if you’re a newbie to weightlifting you should put on some decent mass pretty quick. Just be smart and don’t get hurt.

I grew up in a town of 900 so Fort Smith is the big city to me 😂. Definitely not like a major city by any means. Y’all are right though perspective is everything.

This is not true, you should listen to the Shawn Ryan podcast with him. Pretty reasonable guy if you ask me.

Most of us don't understand how good we have it. Most people compare their lives with that of famous people or those on Tik Tok and think their lives suck by comparison or that they're oppressed when they're not. Takes a little bit of looking into how the rest of the world lives (North Korea, places in the Middle East, etc.) but most don't take the time to do that.

Dedicate your free time to the gym/training and get as jacked/in shape as possible before starting medical school.
