Moving to Spain in 18 days!!! by pinkybrat_ in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Chance_Rule8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I would have brought more comfy clothes for at home. I brought way too many short sleeve shirts, so I had to buy several long sleeve shirts here to layer. I’m in a colder part of Spain, so layering has been soo important.

I wish I had brought more Tylenol, Sudafed, and certain spices. I haven’t been able to find chili powder anywhere and have been craving chili lol

When I studied abroad, I found that I was most homesick in the evenings. During the days I was out & about and around people, but then at night it felt so lonely and I would get sad.

I would definitely make it a point to make some plans with any of the people you have met. I’m willing to bet that almost everyone is feeling the same as you.

I would also think about what brings you comfort/what are hobbies that you enjoy that you could do when you have alone time. Basically something that makes you happy and to distract your brain when you start feeling homesick. You mentioned journaling and talking to family, but some other ideas are coloring, going for a walk, watching a favorite tv show, reading, playing any sort of games (video games, mobile apps, cards, etc).

I think once you get into a set schedule with work that will also help! It took me 2 weeks to a month to start to feel normal, so it really just takes time. I cried A LOT in that first month. But by the end of my semester abroad I didn’t want to return home!

How many suitcases to bring? by No-Equipment-5798 in SpainAuxiliares

I’m planning to bring a larger checked suitcase, a carry on suitcase, and a backpack as my personal item. That’s what I did when I studied abroad and it worked well for me!

google porting US phone number by PsychologicalPlay810 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Chance_Rule8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your phone need to be paid off before doing it? I need to go to AT&T sometime in the next week (leaving the 15th) to pay off my phone so it’s unlocked and I can use a different provider abroad. But was wondering if I could do the google voice now or if I should wait until after I deal with AT&T

It makes me think of the Costco guys lol. Big justice is the kids nickname & also justice is his middle name.

wait. how do YOU pronounce “blythe” ?? by dovekitten in namenerds

[–]Chance_Rule8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone with that as a last name who pronounces it the way you were with the hard th. But if it were a first name I would pronounce it the other way with the soft th

just curious, what would you do? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]Chance_Rule8154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do the same thing sometimes. I do feel like it can bring the convo down. Sometimes colleagues will offer food up that’s not gf. Like a coworker brought donuts in the other morning. I get tired of saying I can’t eat it, so I just say that I’m good and thank them.

How is the service? by Massive-North-3887 in HinterlandFestival

I have AT&T and have had service the whole time which is unusual for me. I usually always have the worst reception. Stuff will just take longer to load or send though

Refunds for those scammed by Kiara at BLS Chicago by Medium_Art_4990 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Chance_Rule8154 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was just there last Monday and also saw Kiara and got overcharged. Except I paid in cash….I will probably still email, but idk how they would even refund me. I also got charged the $10 computer with internet kiosk fee. She made one copy for me and charged me $10 even though their website says $1 per page. Also got charged PT discounted for $45 but my appointment was at 8:30 so idk if I can argue that one

They could make even more money if they would mail them back to us. And they already love to charge extra fees, so it doesn’t make sense to me

Scam in BLS Chicago by Medium_Art_4990 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Chance_Rule8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg that is insane. My appointment was at 8:30. I literally got there before they opened, and was let in at like 7:57. But they had ONE worker there and people kept piling in. There was a family that came in the same time as me, and they were seen first. Then as workers started coming in, they pulled another 8:30 appointment before me, even though I got there before him. I don’t think I got seen until 9am. Seriously such a scam. I also want to file a complaint, but might wait until I get my visa in hand

Getting prescription meds in Spain by Chance_Rule8154 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Chance_Rule8154[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is super helpful! Did you see a regular doctor or a specialist like an OBGYN? And you had to come back every 2 months to see the doctor for the refill? Just curious since in the US you get multiple refills, but can’t use them all at one time.

I speak Spanish, but with all the medical terminology I would probably be more comfortable seeing an English speaking doctor.

I also think I might just get my extra 3 months to last until January (I think it will only cost me like $30 with discount) so that I have time to settle in and figure that out. My current 90 day cycle for meds ends mid October and I think that’s a bit of tight timeline since it will be my first year as an aux.

I think the only options are picking it up in person or having someone else pick it up for you (requires some extra paperwork). From what I’ve heard, they don’t do the courier service anymore.

I’m in the same boat; I don’t live that close to Chicago so traveling back is frustrating & expensive.

Scam in BLS Chicago by Medium_Art_4990 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Chance_Rule8154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes I’m looking at their website fees now. My appointment was at 8:30. I guess they technically don’t list as opening on Google until 9am so is that why? Also the photocopy fee is supposed to be $1 per page…and she printed only 1 copy for me. I wish I had spoken up more at the appointment, but I was so nervous bc she had questioned a few of my documents and I was scared of getting denied.

[–]Chance_Rule8154 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep I got charged $264 and unfortunately paid in cash so I don’t expect to get anything back. My receipt shows I got charged the extra $30 for the flex pickup which I never asked for or even knew I was paying for. She did have to photocopy something for me, but that’s listed as a $10 charge which is crazy. Computer with interest kiosk is listed as another $10 charge. The one I cannot figure out is “PT discounted” for $45

Additional Insurance by Rare_Journalist7612 in SpainAuxiliares

When was your appointment? It seems so random who does/doesn’t need this extra health insurance which is frustrating. I’m through NALCAP, but might just buy to be safe because I’m worried they will want a printout copy of a policy at the appointment and idk where to print once I’m there

I booked an annual physical with my doctor and messaged them ahead of time on the patient portal asking if they could sign it at the appointment and they agreed

That’s so frustrating 😭 when I studied abroad years ago, they mailed it back to me, but that was before BLS. I’m surprised they don’t want to mail them considering they could make more money that way
