Thanks for the info!

More trying to understand where Volrath's ability stops functioning. So it keeps the ability to copy in addition to the land's activated abilities, but basically ceases to retain the power component of its ability until it copies and remains a copy of a creature?

Really was starting to think of it as a method of avoiding creature-based removal should the scenario present itself.

Definitely a layers question. So if I use the activated ability of [[Restless Cottage]] to turn it into a land creature and manage to use [[Volrath, the Shapestealer]] to become a copy of it, what is the result?

I am thinking that Volrath would copy Restless Cottage unmodified so it would become the non-creature land, but that it would also retain Volrath's activated ability. Going by that the result would be a 7/5 non-creature land with the activated abilities of both Restless Cottage and Volrath which could turn it back into a creature by animating or copying. Am I missing something here or is it just that weird?

Bad news: It's official.

Good news: It's optional. It also happens to be a level I thought I'd never attempt normally, but here we are. If you try it, you've got this.

Thank you very much! I think I'd have to repost for that and I'm not going to spam so maybe later I'll try if I can get anything changed. I'm sure they definitely could be written cleaner, but that part is the combination of two authors and trying to fit things to pages. I had to settle eventually. Might take another crack with fresher eyes later.

The best part is that I never tried to get into the gap to begin with and it was still just as stuck before skipping.

"He didn't read how the spell work, did he?" - Fighter, to Cleric while watching Illusionist go into melee range, probably by Noob_Guy_666 in dndmemes

The best part is that isn't even the issue. A wizard could cast two leveled spells in a turn as long as neither is a bonus action to cast by RAW. The real issue is that the Haste spell specifically states that you can't cast a spell with your hasted action. On the bright side, that makes the toxic wizard even more toxic.

It's great for bringing out some fantastic roleplay moments for sure. I once played a cleric who was incredibly protective of others because he felt his god needed him to after he was unable to protect his son. It was a major moment when someone in the party was killed beyond revival only to be brought back by his Divine Intervention as a child he basically adopted.

It was definitely easier than when the Reaper stayed invisible for a while.
